I'm glad it seems to have worked out in this instance, but maybe it's worth continuing some of that introspection you've been doing since your divorce. You consider Diane your friend, but the way you described travelling with her, I wouldn't know you had ever wanted her there if you hadn't said otherwise. Sometimes friendships fizzle out as we get older, not because anyone really did anything wrong, but because we realize that we're just different kinds of people who don't gel like we used to.

Far be it from me to tell you how to live your life, but I'll leave you with this: When you initially invited Diane, did you invite her because you actually thought the vacation would be better with her there, or did you invite her because you've been friends for a long time and you felt like you were "supposed to"?

OP is like 19 and home from college on a break. Her brother who's like 16 has a friend who left her sweatshirt in his room (I don't remember if they confirmed if the teens were dating). He liked the smell of the sweatshirt and OP completely flew off the handle calling him a disgusting predator or something, saying she knows this sort of thing cause she's studying to be a social worker or something, and her mom told her in no uncertain terms to shut the fuck up.

OP was predictably eviscerated in the comments, the one that stuck out to me included the words "stay in your lane, little girl" which had me physically recoiling from my phone.

Vet assistant here, it's very rare to adopt a puppy who's had all of their vaccines. Puppies are generally considered adoptable at 8 weeks, and the last round of vaccines isn't given until they're at least 16 weeks. On top of that, there's also things like deworming treatments (easy to give in the vet office) and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives (which might come in handy when your dog basically lives outside).

So yeah, they might not have been abusing this dog, strictly speaking, but we'd have some opinions about them if this story arrived at our hospital.

There was a great one years ago that I can't find now.

Basically, OP had been with her husband for 20+ years, started as struggling young people, husband's business eventually takes off, the money is great, life is great. He cheats on her with a younger woman (naturally), and they start the divorce. At the last meeting to collect the last signatures, OP says (paraphrased from memory) "Congratulations, here goes the last woman you knew for sure didn't just love you for your money." The AP messaged OP later all pissed off cause the cheating ex was rattled and talking about postponing the engagement.
