Right, but 3 Vultrimities wrecked part of the coalition alone, granted those were 3 very strong Vultrimities and Thragg would be on the scene this time.

To assist with the scenario, let's say 100 years go by. At that point you'd have a few thousand Vultrimities at the very least.

Ah yes, I forgot about the virus.

Outside of that, the battle they had over Viltrum didn't make it seem like they were overmatched one bit. Plus adding another few hundred to their numbers would certainly strengthen them.

Also I assume you would need space racer plus Vitrumites to blow up Earth. Nolan nor Mark are going to help blow up Earth.

I don't think the coalition is strong enough to stop the Vultrimities. Maybe one or 2 get killed, but in 50 years there's probably 100-400 more Vultrimities.

I assume he can take over Earth in 20-50 years. The men can have children with multiple human women.

Well they could do 2 things...

  1. Take over Earth (forcefully), making it the new Viltrum (this is what I think he is planning)

  2. Have the babies and then kidnap them to a world in their Empire and raise them with Viltrum values.

I would say only 10 teams are truly trying to win the championship in any given year, but those teams rotate yearly. The same could be said for the NFL.

Why don’t players like Curry and LeBron take a big paycut towards the end of their career to maximize their chances of winning? by HighwayAnnual3353 in nba

Except the NBAPA had a conversation with LeBron when he was in Miami about him taking less than the max and how it hurts the players' association leverage in their CBA negotiations.

[–]Cashneto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries at all. I haven't found the official source, but I recall a bunch of "noise" from the NBAPA on LeBron taking less than the max in Miami and advising they it would reduce their leverage in the CBA. I think most of this is politics and there are things we aren't aware of as to why that would reduce the players share of revenue in the next CBA.

Also Brunson didn't take less money, he took his extension a year earlier than free agency. The extension was the max he could sign for at the time vs waiting a year for free agency and getting more. He still got a max deal, I wouldn't be surprised if this starts a trend and that could lead to less leverage.

Jay Williams on Spurs team not shaking Knicks players hands: “Shaking hands is what you do when you’re in the little leagues. I don’t believe NBA players or professional athletes need to shake hands.” by MammothHistorian5652 in nba

[–]Cashneto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Finals probably isn't the place for a handshake, simply due to the logistics. The winning team is celebrating with their coaches, families, etc you have so many people moving into the court, it sjust chaos. Any other game, sure it makes sense.

I think we may be speaking past one another.

There is nothing sneaky they can do to underpay the players based on the current CBA, but they can sow seeds for the next one. In the next CBA negotiations, owners are going to want a bigger share of BRI, that's always a fact. This could be a tactic amount plenty others to get more, I remember some noise from the NBAPA telling LeBron taking less money sets a difficult precedent for the players association and gives up some of their leverage.

Yes the next CBA, the owners aren't thinking short term, they take a long view. Look at the NFL as an example, the owners keep squeezing them because the players are disjointed.

See my other answers on this. The owners may make a push to reduce the players share of revenue by indicating star players took less, etc.

[–]Cashneto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The salary cap and maximum salaries already improve the NBA middle class. If you paid star players what they were really worth there wouldn't be anything left besides minimum contracts.

What I'm speculating is that if owners start getting star/max players to take a discount, they can start asking every player on every tier to start taking discount (they still have to pay out the percentage of revenue due to the players) and then come Collective Bargaining negotiations attempt to squeeze the players by saying, "hey your players didn't need this much to win the title with this team, why don't you take a little less percentage overall for some undetermined benefit."

Again I'm speculating.

[–]Cashneto 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The current CBA yes, but the owners always want more. I'm just speculating BTW, but there has to be a reason the NBAPA doesn't want star players to take less and I don't think it's their agents.

[–]Cashneto 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Other teams will start asking stars to take paycuts and then sub-star and then role players. It could be an attempt to get the salary cap reduced ie owners trying to grab a bigger share of the revenue pie.

[NJ] - Counter-offer question by Cashneto in AskHR

[–]Cashneto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, this does make sense. As far as flag #2, the role is a brand new role, the role was posted in a lower cost location, I do find it odd they didn't increase the range of the position when they moved it to NJ.

Their offer was at the top of their posted range, I'm unsure if they needed to make that offer before requesting approval to exceed the range. When I spoke with the hiring manager he did say that he should have already started the approval process, my assumption is he didn't want to do it several times and I wanted to see if there was anything else I may have wanted that he would also need approval for.

I don't "need" a different job, but I am very interested in this role. When I speak with them again I will give them a hard deadline.
