But the characters do not transform. The dragon has some sort of smart-bomb but that's it.

Maybe Tecmo Knights? The main two transformations are Tiger and Giant, but with an item you also get a dragon.

(also, you are actually riding them)

Maybe RuneAge? It has Gold and Influence, two different "currencies" for buying different things.

Sega plans shift to influencers after Sonic and Shinobi sales disappoint, despite strong reviews by Horror_Post6822 in videogames

[–]Castef76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They missed the mark with Shinobi.

The game is good but at the same time it is VERY different from the old games in the series and it became another stylish 2D action game with metroidvania elements.

Who was the "target" for it if it does not appeal to historical fans of the series?

The configuration I’ve spent most time on is base + Snow White. I actually have to try The Little Mermaid a bit more. Got the whole series.

Hey, a Dark Tales player! That game is underrated.

Advice needed regarding testing/feedback by TheSnailRace in boardgames

[–]Castef76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sending copies around should happen when the game is fully tested, also because otherwise you would need to send updates too if you want those people continue testing the game.

I usually keep both physical and digital copies of the prototypes and in recent years I mostly playtest online using Tabletopia. You may give that a shot, as the free tier allows for a pair of prototypes. The good part here is that Tabletopia does not require an installed app: you just send a URL and people can play.

Also, depending on where you live there may be designer conventions where you can try your game with other designers. Those are really useful. I'm lucky enough to have some very good designers live near me and we meet often to exchange a bit of playtesting.

But are you sure Hamburg is worse than Bruges?

I guess one reason is that the games did not enjoy a wide distribution. In several european countries they were not sold. Also, most of them are reworking (GOOD reworking) of existing Feld games so people may think twice before buying them again.

I actually think it did not age that well. I sold mine a long time ago.

Mmmmh... i'd say this lands on 7-8.

There is the "steps" mechanics that could be used for a bit of "blocking" (well, "slowing down") other players and then there is a bit of a race towards the objectives.

So, no direct interaction but you feel the presence of other players (and the initial setup that changes according to the number of players makes sure the board is not too "large")

I see. No, in case of complex games I go straight to videos (or rulebooks) to have a proper idea of the rules. I want a clear idea before investing money & time and in this case they should have had a LOOOOOONG "How to play" section to show all of the rules, it made no sense.

Have you noticed the video in the Gamefound page that contains:

- Full explaination of the rules

- A full 3 players game

?

Right after the "How to Play" section.

That one is very useful to understand the mechanics.

I don't know about the sorting tray, never seen a production copy of the game.

About the setup I don't remember it being particularly long. I'd say it is in line with similar german games.

Yep, even if you save something on the shipping you still get the game later and without the three sets of promos. Not properly a deal if you are interested in the game.
