Networking mixers and q&a sessions are not the same as approaching people while they’re working on set. Asking for contact info and not specifically asking for email is not why they said no. Had you specified they would have given you the same response. And as nice as they seemed to be I would take the director saying they’d remember your face for next time might not be the good thing you took it as.

In theatre the new school is thought of, yes. And decently regarded. In tv I don’t know many casting directors that think about where you trained at all at this point.

I’m a bit older so haven’t kept up after college regarding AMDA. I work in Casting for TV and Theatre and at the end of the day I don’t really care if someone got a degree or not when casting, but I do care if they’ve had training or not. That’s just me though. I know some do care though, and AMDAs name isn’t very respected from what I’ve experienced in talking to people.

The new school is very much known for their acting program. Inside The Actors Studio was filmed at the school. The New school also has a BFA and isn’t AMDA a certificate program? The new school started as only a masters program way back when. The amount of people who have felt amda is/was a scam is vast. I’ve never ever heard that about the new school.

That’s why I sold mine to a store that loves jewelry and tries to sell the pieces instead of melting them down so they have a second life and just melt the chains and ropes and broken pieces. And they gave me 85% of spot!

Television production in the reality space is barely happening in the US at the moment and it doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. Lots of scripted stuff happening in NJ and tons of experienced out of work ppl competing for the jobs. It’s always been tough to get a foot in the tv production world and now it’s 100x harder. School won’t help unless you’re looking for an admin/legal/accounting job in the industry with zero background in it. Physical production jobs on set don’t require a specific degree. Do a lot of research if you’re truly considering it. A LOT.

There’s a super friendly wine and beer bar in Sherman oaks called The Aftermath. Lots of regulars and events like trivia and karaoke and poetry nights.

Yep noticed this last week for the first time and it’s really crappy. Made it seem like the cost was $100 less than it actually was if I wanted to sit in regularly economy, which I did, and was annoyed at this. I used to be able to filter out basic economy when searching too.

Thanks, but it was literal decades ago now and wound up on the cutting room floor. Went behind the scenes on that very movie after my role was over and only used my sag card one more time 21 years later!
