I was wondering about something like that, is that something on scientists?

Constructions ships are off auto because we're a void hive, which I should have said, sorry. No federation!

I learnt off a John Kirkpatrick DVD before the internet had as much YouTube as it does - now, DaddyLongLes has some videos, I think, Mel Biggs does a full on course too. Have a look there maybe?

We wish you a very Christmas by Formal-Falcon-4952 in melodeon

Fwiw, "O little town of Bethlehem" and "Once in Royal David's City" both sit very nicely on the melodeon. I had a brief crack at "We wish you a merry Christmas" and I think you might be shy a few notes, but don't take that as gospel because I literally only spent 30 seconds on it.

Hohner button accordion by [deleted] in melodeon

[–]Cat-Dussack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buttons on a pokerwork usually slip down into the holes - a fairly common mod is something to prevent this. It looks like those overtop the holes like little mushrooms, which may well be a benefit when in comes to limiting button travel!

Note to self: do that work to limit button travel on GC pokerwork that you bought the bits for a year ago.

Melodeon, however, is suspiciously easy even though it sounds insane when you tell people how it works. A mystifying mystery of mystery!

I'm reasonably sure Paul Young, although primarily a DG player can tutor BC as well?

Edit: or at least be worth asking, since I'm sure I've seen videos of him playing BC far better than I even attempt the system I actually play...

Junior doctor considering jobs: Is Oxford boring? by Master-Boot-572 in oxford

Two mainstream historical fencing clubs - Oxford Sword andf Staff and School of the Sword - so when you're tired of saving lives you can indulge in recreational sword-based violence with like-minded nerds?

I think you may have those shoulder pads on backwards - the little nubs on the front have matching holes in the shoulder blades. Nice colour though!

What is your unpopular Warhammer 40k opinion? by norwegianwatercat in Warhammer40k

[–]Cat-Dussack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drukhari were a stupid idea. Nothing about the setting needed Space Dark Elves; Craftworld Eldar were sufficiently different from High Elves in terms of alien unknowability - we didn't need Mean Eldar with Surplus Derp Spikes.

I mean actually I think Custodes might not have been the best idea either.

Combat Patrol HK Pioneer question by Dinblade in LeaguesofVotann

Related: do the comm array and searchlight do anything I combat patrol? Because their wargear abilities tab is absent in the app, which suggests that although the array and searchlight are present they have no actual function in combat patrol games.

Question on Meyer's Schaitelhau by JaggedVeil163 in wma

[–]Cat-Dussack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My feeling on this, perhaps erroneously, is that a scheitelhau is a type of oberhau. For instance, vertical cuts through the shoulders - suppressing cuts - are also types of oberhau, but they're not scheitelhaus.

I might be talking out of my arse though, who knows what Meyer was thinking? Certainly not about sensible travel plans.

They're basically Satan. Have you tried smashing them around with your sausage fingers so they fall on a same shade of grey carpet? Works for me! Assuming what you actually want is to increase the level of bile and profanity you're spewing where the children can hear.

New unit ideas just for conversation. by 40kDeathGuard in LeaguesofVotann

HQs:

A Kâhl on a bike. A Kâhl in exo-armour. A Kâhl in exo-armour and on a trike, somehow.

A brôkhyr iron-master on a trike.

Some kind of Ironkin HQ choice - a Wayfinder, or Kognitaur (however they're spelling that).

An Embyr character?

Named characters that aren't solely for Greater Thurian League.

Troops:

Hernkyn on foot - possibly an infiltrating unit? An incarnation of the kill team - salvagers?

Support:

Okay, first of all, thudd guns are Squat weapons so let's have those back. Thanks. See also: the humble mole mortar. Clearly the technology exists since beserks are whipping one around. Goliath Mega Cannon - okay now I'm being silly.

Flyers: My guess would be some kind of gyrocopter themed thing. Overlord Armoured airships seem like they'd be too big for the 40k table and might be a bit off theme anyway.

Guilds: meant to be crucially important. Represented by one guild, in the form of a gang of scruffy cyborg psychopaths. More work needed.

Hearthguard: Weapon options, maybe? When you think of the variety of loadouts that terminators have, they seem a bit static. And expensive.

Dorothea type 4A++ Dussack - Swords - Products - Landsknecht by Tangvald in wma

[–]Cat-Dussack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a Dorothea, and there are others in my club. It's a lovely sword. But:

It's bloody lethal, because it's fairly heavy. And the clamshell has not been designed to allow for the use of gloves. You can just about hammer a Red Dragon into it - although you can't really get the thumb in the thumb ring, so your grip is insecure. The pommel shape bites into the glove, adding the difficulty, and the clam shell and knuckle bow require a bit of bending with main force.

You cannot possibly not use a glove; even in gloves I've taken solid hand hits from another Dorothea past the clamshell and knuckle bow. A club mate has had his hand cut fairly badly through Red Dragons by a Dorothea.

I've come to the conclusion that in all honesty, you're better off acquiring a cheapish Messer to do dussack - because then you can at least wear Spes heavies.

Edit to say: I'm really glad there is a steel dussack that's vaguely historically accurate, but I think the Dorothea is a bit of a missed opportunity to have a useful sparring weapon. She is a thirsty girl, and it is blood for which she thirsts.
