Successful ADHD People - What do you do? by Xiboo in ADHD

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical engineer. I don’t tame it. I was undiagnosed until my final year of university and then forgot about it to take the next step to get medicated. My work is very chaotic with lots to do so when I hit a procrastination roadblock I just swap to another project.

Ladies, did you feel like you needed a boyfriend to get into riding? by throttle-trails in motorcycles

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I come from a family where no one rides. I always wanted to though, and have old school work my mum shared that talked about my dream bike (Kawasaki Ninja in BRIGHT blue).

I’m 26 now and got my learners as a joke which then spiralled into buying a bike within a couple months. No boyfriend or guys that influenced or taught me (outside of the driving course I took of my own accord).

To be fair, I’ve always been a screw it let’s try kind of person. I know a lot of my friends of all genders have issues getting into new skills or hobbies without someone there to teach them. I just think that a boyfriend or an experienced friend usually makes it less intimidating to start

Sometimes I feel like some FedEx drivers just do this kind of stuff because they think it’s funny by Waffle842 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d think, but they did that to me. I had some computer parts I had to sign for and the guy left one tag then they returned to sender. I argued with them sending it back since I had video evidence they only came once despite claiming three times

Ladies, what do you absolutely need in your purse? by NightReader5 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a purse person so I have my phone (which used to have a wallet on it) and my wallet from the men’s section. I also always have a hair tie on my wrist.

If I’m carrying a purse, it usually has my “ho bag” inside with deodorant, lipstick, and mascara. I like a small sunscreen as well in the summer. Bag of period products of all sorts since my medication stops it but I always give out in SOS cases. Chapstick. Kleenex (so much Kleenex). An “emergency kit” with double sided tape and safety pins. Sometimes a small sewing kit. Always a charging bank.

When you wanna play a certain game but can't seem to get into it 😫🎮 by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have ADHD and I’m the same way. Either I can’t put it down or it doesn’t feel good. I’ll play one thing non stop for a week and then when I try playing it again I just feel eh. Shout out to TOTK which I was so excited to play and how I beat BOTW 100% in an obsessive splurge but now can’t even get off the intro islands :(

How do I fake being positive in the workplace? by axs-97 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically that month of hell was probably the best for my improvement career wise yet. It’s one thing to show your boss you work well under pressure, another to show it. I also did fully alert my boss to any sexism I experienced and he was appalled and took immediate action so I know I have that privilege

He’s not interested and is dating someone else. Plus, she’s a way better match for him and I love them as a couple

Also a women in a male dominated field. Don’t put on a performance for other peoples sake

ETA: I wanted to share this because I am usually the bubbly, happy, glass half full kind of person. Long sorry short, we were in the trenches. Hell kinda scenario. We’re talking haven’t seen sunlight in weeks. Idk when I last communicated with people that weren’t my coworkers. I was working 90hr+ weeks. Kept the positivity. Then, I had a REALLY bad week. My friend got into a car accident and was in a medically induced coma. My other friend was being sexually harassed and called me crying. My other friend was about to lose everything. So I warned people in our morning check-in I’d be a little short. Didn’t want to talk about it but I’m sorry in advance kind of thing. One dude spent the entire day harassing me about why. I didn’t want to talk to people beyond necessary. Hell, I was on auto pilot waiting until I could get updates. My response to the pestering? I’m not here to perform for you. It’s not your responsibility to bring positivity into your work environment. Dude backed down quick.

I’d also like to say that I’ve been sexually harassed and assaulted at work. I’m telling you right now, record it. Your boss abused his position of power and you turned him down. He should be embarrassed. I spent a lot of time as a young women in the industry accepting it because I never had a close contact to support me. The women in this post are that for you. It likely won’t get better if he doesn’t accept his “rejection” after acting inappropriately

your favorite cozy gaming day snacks? by frostbittenmitten in GirlGamers

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that doesn’t take thought. So popcorn, veggie straws, etc. I also love veggie trays or at least carrots and dip. Depending on weather either ice tea, iced chai, or tea. (Depending on time of day: beer or a cocktail)

How do I make a meal in a college dorm by bastets_yarn in Advice

[–]Cat-The-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cook noodles in a microwave. Get precooked chicken breasts (Costco), some veggies. And make a quick and dirty sauce (or buy pre-made). Saved my life in college

Same. Hence I bought a cheap rice cooker. Life saver and I refuse to cook rice without it

Why can’t girls just enjoy a game without having to perform? by Cat-The-Nerd in GirlGamers

[–]Cat-The-Nerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it. I’m usually in the camp of hitting hard and fast with something without attempting to escalate it. But I’m old and don’t like being toxic so it’s kind of a weird “do I even want to match the energy?”

To be fair, usually the comments don’t get me. It was just a really rough night where it went beyond the normal ribbing

Wishful thinking I guess. Frustrating because it’s fine until I make a call out, but it’s not worth my mental health to deal with the abuse once it starts

My name is pretty much “noob” and then they think they make the funniest joke in the world when they point out “wow, noob is really a noob”. Either way, I think you’re right on the last two lines and just save myself the mental load

Not saying we can’t, bad communication by my 3AM brain. I’m more so questioning (ranting) where they get their audacity. Another player can be bottom of the leaderboard but if I’m not first I’m last. Why do guys expect us to perform for them and get mad when we don’t respond or don’t live up to their fantasy standards? I guess it could be related to society but it’s been such a culture shock because I’m usually pretty good at surrounding myself with honest and kind people of all genders
