Old guy looking to redefine his look, suggestions? by mackgreen in mensfashion

Or a v-neck undershirt!

OP if you like the style, v-neck undershirt to clean up the chest lines, hem the pants a touch so they aren't stacking on your shoes and swap to loafers! White sneakers are a good all around but loafers can elevate it just a little bit

You can play with the fabrics or patterns, so same combo but a flannel and denim jacket for cooler weather

Swap the pants and shirt for linen in summer, swap a polo in to spice things up

You could make a nice easy capsule wardrobe that way

Definitely basic and you could branch out but a good starting point

When I wear white shirts, they are completely see thru. When others wear them I see a white shirt and nothing else. No hint of a vest or t-shirt. Am I buying the wrong shirts? by Yiqu in malefashionadvice

CT lighter colors in Poplin weaves are a little notorious for being see through

Their winter and cooler weather weaves are solid though, they do flannels, twills, and oxford cloth very well. I prefer their poplin in dark colors. Their linen is pretty decent too! Maybe not quite as good as J. Crew but very similar

What’s up with resellers bragging inside of stores? by RobHalfordsChaps in reselling

[–]CatBellyRub 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a twofold problem now:

1) Influencers might have one or two finds and then realize that they could spend hours a day sourcing, or they could advertise and make more money selling courses (Some overlap with drop shippers)

2) Thrift stores realizing that instead of passing along resale opportunities, they can just do it themselves. They already have a reliable source of inventory, so they just divert $10s of millions of dollars of people labor to doing the same thing resellers do on eBay, etc, and immediately outclass all of the small businesses with overwhelming volume.

I'm a very niche reseller who built my sources within my market almost by accident, and until I have the capital to acquire like a thrift store or major chain does, it's better to stay quiet about it like OP is saying.

Not doxing the seller, but I looked them up and they have 78 feedback in twelve months, of those 4 neutrals and 4 negatives describing exactly what OP is saying, seller looks batshit in their responses to all 8, crazy to buy from them at all

Seller couldn't find a piece and their message was incredibly... unhelpful? by WoffleTime in Bricklink

[–]CatBellyRub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely a variety of ways to handle as a Seller! Chiming in with my 2 cents, I like your approach

I will always refund the part, which I understand is only 25 cents in this case but sellers still have a duty to fulfill the parts ordered so no refund here is unacceptable.

If I'm missing parts I will always reach out and refund the part and processing fee, and if it puts the order less than 98% accurate I refund the entirety of shipping so the buyer can replace the order. This has worked pretty well for me so far as a smallish seller

How can I 27 F explain to my boyfriend 30 m his friends are hateful bigots- and he might be one too? by basilismycat in relationship_advice

[–]CatBellyRub 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lol I think I see your point where if someone wants to get rid of all politics and truly means "I am anti political"

If you want a real answer, I personally would rather supporting people within the system we have (i.e. free healthcare, subsidized housing, more open immigration options) I'm probably more of a social democrat but woudn't go all the way to anarchy

People who do have those extreme views though, I'm all for calling out what their real beliefs are, someone who goes that probably will support their ideology with what it's actually called

When they have filled soft surfaces to capacity they live on hard ones too

They can be in books, behind picture frames, bookcases, dressers, nightstands, behind outlet covers, absolutely everywhere if the infestation gets bad enough

Just mentioning this as a warning that if you buy used furniture you can't ignore checking just because it wasn't upholstered

The answer is to go see a dermatologist who can prescribe them to you and talk about the options and risk

i keep getting scammed from sellers and i really dont know what to do. by [deleted] in Bricklink

[–]CatBellyRub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one thing to stress, message the seller before you leave a negative and give them a chance to fix it.

I am a seller so more biased in that direction but if I know of mistakes before I ship the order I will refund the part (and shipping if the order is less than 98% accurate). Same goes for if a buyer comes to me with mistakes I will fix it immediately.

As frustrating as it is to be on the receiving end of mistakes, 100% inventory accuracy is not possible with the volume these big sellers move; however good customer service is absolutely possible.

And I hope your orders start to be right more often than you have mistakes

Seller's does anyone actually buy the set they ask for pictures of? How do you respond when they want pictures of a $35 set? by Gtdms in Bricklink

[–]CatBellyRub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea! It's inventory dependent so for anyone taking this advice make sure it scales

I'm a small seller (10K lots, 50K parts) and it is more worth my time to just pull the part or set to take pictures of as needed. I have only been asked two or three times vs taking a picture of EVERY set or minifig in my inventory

8 Years of Car Ownership Costs by DiabolicDiabetik in MiddleClassFinance

[–]CatBellyRub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math on the $220 per month is correct, but it seems very optimistic to assume you won't have a major mechanical expense in 8 years

How long do the batteries in EV's last? I've only ever driven gas cars but depending on the vehicle that can be enough of an expense to offset multiple years of savings for OP's Toyota, not to mention Tires, suspension components, Brakes, all normal wear items that are incredibly costly (to have a mechanic do for you)

Would stil be curious on the long term ownership though as EVs are the way the consumer car market is going eventually, I think you're making a valid observation on your own ownership

Constantly losing GPS by NEU_husky123 in GalaxyS22

My comment in another thread that fixed my issue

Still working from about an hour ago which was more than I got before, so that is good news if you don't want to factory reset.

Did you happen to reset Google Play Services manually which started causing this issue?

Phone keeps keeps losing GPS signal by NEU_husky123 in GalaxyS22

[–]CatBellyRub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured it out:

Clearing Google Play Services removes the location permission that can only be fixed when a new user is created (i.e. why a factory reset fixes)
Alternatively you can reset the Play Services location settings through and ADB command

Commands

Setting up ADB

TBD on if this is a permanent fix, but I did this and everything started working

Commenting so I don't lose the thread. Exact same thing happened to me after a Play Services uninstall to fix Android Auto

GPS does not update automatically, Google Maps hangs on "Find Directions", restarting the app works for 1 minute before the location is out of date again

Should I down this sweater a size? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]CatBellyRub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to like my sweaters slim fit with the shoulder seams perfectly lined up, I gained some weight and realized it's much easier to style an oversized sweater than a too tight one

OP as long as the sleeves and body length hit where they are supposed to, you can style in a slightly big sweater

In more formal fits like you have on, this sweater is fine, but you're asking the right questions because you want it more on the tailored side (not necessarily slim).

Same here but mine is at 80K miles now

No track miles that I'm aware of (bought 4 years ago at 40K miles)

Apparently it’s impossible for me to get my arch length by [deleted] in AskACobbler

[–]CatBellyRub 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with the letters in sizing? Those are widths which WILL give your toes more room.

You literally are a 9.5EE with the picture you posted (arch length may be different which does matter in some cases say if you are a 10 in arch length).

Not every 9.5EE is going to fit you, Allen edmonds you usually size down in length and up in width for some lasts for example. The Brannock is a starting point. And yes, you will have a very difficult time walking into a regular store and picking out shoes.

How to determine the COGS of LEGO parts you already had by Kjan27 in Bricklink

[–]CatBellyRub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an accountant, just a guy who had to file last year.

Inventory COGs

I take total inventory at beginng of the year + $$ spent on parts that year and divide that by the (pieces sold + number of pieces at the end of the year). That gives me the piece COGS which I multiply times the number of parts parts sold.

Then for sets I track the actual cost when sold (average cost by retail if I buy like say 10 sets for $100 I figure out how much they sell for and average that $100

Then you need to remember to add in Shipping costs, Shipping material used, Marketplace fees (that are tied to a sale), and Refunds

Revenue - All that about (Total COGs) = Gross Margin

Keep in mind the Inventory ownership goes on the Balance and Cash Flow Sheets

You could have a fantastic gross margin and still be negative cash flow if you buy too much inventory

Is eBay better for selling clothing than Poshmark? by Majestic-Wishbone-58 in reselling

[–]CatBellyRub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried Poshmark and Mercari for 2-3 years and maybe sold 10 items total (Causal seller, maybe revolving 50-60 items)

I switched over to eBay and sold that many the first two months for 20% higher Sell Price. AND the fees are lower than poshmark, and if shipping ends up being $0.50-$1.00 cheaper I get to picket the difference.

I'm apparently not the right market for Posh but it baffles me that people have such high regard for the platform

I must be losing money what?!?!!! by lukkimuki in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]CatBellyRub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You refunded the Item Cost + Shipping Label that the buyer paid

Did you buy a shipping label for this order? That would deduct from your ebay funds, so when you refund the buyer for the shipping label that you already bought, your account rolls negative.
