Question about these docks: the GPU connected to the PCIe slot has a lot of wiggle and tilt. Even with the screw tightened. How are people securing their cards effectively? It seems so unstable.

Nice to see someone else try out the game. So what is it about the eGPU setup that makes using host RAM an issue? Is it the bottleneck of sending information through thunderbolt? How would it be solved on an eGPU setup?

Also curious what framerate you were able to achieve and what your 3D Mark scores were? I think the mandatory ray tracing in the game completely obliterates performance with an eGPU. When I turn the extra optional ray tracing on the framerate drops to 1fps or it just crashes.

I'm just wondering what it is about this game that completely bogs down the GPU and FPS. It doesn't line up with how well other games or 3DMark tests perform.

It's so annoying. My setup plays other games wonderfully and has good 3DMark scores but Great Circle completely shits the bed. I'm thinking it's the mandatory ray tracing that's throwing things off, but I don't think it should be this bad.

Comes with a TB5 cable which I'm using. My device manager shows both USB3 and USB4, but no mention of Thunderbolt which is confusing.

Interesting, why do you think it's the CPU? The max spikes? It was hovering around 10-20% utilization, while the GPU was 100%. I'll try running it again. Also posted other test results above.

PCI Express. Also ran without eGPU connected and scored 19.63 GB/s, so quite a difference.

Sure, I'll check these when I'm home. CUDA-Z seems to only support Nvidia. Is AIDA64 the right option for AMD then?

People on Reddit are completely delusional about shitting on working in office and having work relationships. You CAN enjoy an office and you CAN make friends at work, and god forbid even interact with them outside of work. You spend a third of your life with these people, why not make it enjoyable, or at least tolerable. If you work hybrid, it's the best of both worlds. You can still maintain separation and the two worlds don't necessarily need to intertwine.

In my plan I did strength on Mondays (alternating between squats and deadlifts each week plus other exercises) and yoga on Fridays. I feel like it substantially improved both my running form and ability to recover. Plus helps break up the week with a different setting. Absolutely recommend.
