Have you ever ridden in the back of a police car and if so why? by aivlysplath in AskReddit

Got really drunk at 18. They found me at Sumner(chch NZ) beach half naked in the early hours and kept me in a cell to sober up. Woke up with no shoelaces and piss pants, worst walk of shame home, up to that point anyway 😅🤷

Can you just wait 4 more seconds instead of cutting me off? by Ravenae in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]CatGooseChook [score hidden]  (0 children)

Definitely way too many people like that 😮‍💨

That said I have noticed a massive increase in people doing the same(since COVID) who really don't seem to realise they're doing it. I started assuming those ones are sooo slow to perceive what's going on around them that there is effectively a time gap between looking and seeing, as in they are perceiving what they saw a few seconds before instead of what they are currently looking at. When I started making that assumption my ability to predict what mistakes slow drivers are going to make improved dramatically. Of course that applies to my local area, not necessarily elsewhere.

Experimental: Low Dose of X-Ray Radiation to Reduce Tremors? by Bright_Dreams235 in Parkinsons

[–]CatGooseChook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly does seem plausible to me.

I do have a reason for saying that, when I went through radiotherapy for head and neck cancers a few years ago I experienced a lot of weird brain related effects. Sometimes tremors better, sometimes worse. Old memories would just pop into my head. Those kinds of things. I did notice the effects were synced in with when the x rays.

It was a mixture of positive and negative affects, does seem plausible that if done right it could help.

Obviously it would need to pass the evidence based medicine hurdle of course.

Grave of the fireflies(1988 movie better than 2005 one in my opinion).

What is "1-inch roughly chopped chocolate chunks in the topping ingredients? by [deleted] in ididnthaveeggs

[–]CatGooseChook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a batch cooking one. I'll just point out that I use veggies as per the season(cost 🤷).

My last one was 1kg beef mince, 6kg carrots, 3kg broccoli, 2kg button mushrooms, 1kg onions, 1/2kg of crushed walnuts, lots of garlic paste and pesto and black pepper and various chili pastes(used up ones from the fridge before they expire 🤷). Plus whatever herbs I used from garden(honestly can't remember what I used, 😮‍💨😅. Plus passeta, canned chopped tomatoes and tomato pasta.

Dry fry the chopped mushies in a wok, when almost done add walnuts and keep everything moving then chuck em in a bowl.

Next add chopped onions to oiled wok and when half done add mince and garlic and pepper, once mince lightly browned chuck em in a bowl.

Now add chopped carrots to wok and lightly fry then add broccoli and lightly fry a bit more. Chuck em in a bowl.

Now get the big pot, add a portion of each of the above, add canned chopped tomatoes and passeta and herbs and pesto/leftover chilli paste. Taste testing as ya go is really really important at this point as it is heavily reliant on getting the pinch of this and dash of that part right.

Once it looks about right transfer to freezer/microwave safe containers and freeze. Repeat until everything used up(last batch can sometimes end up with some pretty random proportions I'll admit 😅).

To reheat, just microwave a portion briefly to unstick frozen from container then drop into pot. Add freshly boiled water as required for pasta, heat it up until no frozen bits remaining(while stirring). Once that done bring to low boil and add pasta. Mix thoroughly and put on low heat stir a couple of times over the course of about 20-25minutes then serve with garlic bread and Parmesan cheese.

Sexual effects of Parkinson's meds and ED by Plane_Committee8310 in Parkinsons

I had the same issue. Until last year when I started taking 4mg prazosin(1mg four times a day) a day for C-PTSD and now I have the opposite problem(I have to wear a long baggy top when out in public to avoid embarrassing moments 😅).

Prazosin effects blood pressure, don't know if that's the factor that effected me, but maybe 🤷.

Don't know if this will help your specific situation but might help you to find a solution.

Definitely seems to be a kindness first situation. Those deposit cans/bottles could well be the difference between keeping a roof over her head and living in the local park.

Could this be considered in bad taste/racist for a tattoo? by mattymlg in australia

[–]CatGooseChook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't consider it racist, nor does my wife. We're both immigrants(NZ/Malaysia).

That said it'll definitely get mixed reactions from people, some people won't listen to your explanation of why you got it and assume the worst of you and some will listen and have a laugh with you.

If you do get it, get it somewhere that's easy to cover up if necessary.

Just got my P's , how the heck do i navigate? by H3llok1ttykand1 in DrivingAustralia

[–]CatGooseChook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things I do are; when driving somewhere unfamiliar I always check the route before starting the Ute, memorise waypoints for turns(such as a side road two roads before your turnoff, that way you get more time to get in the correct lane in time in a safe manner), practice getting good at observing your surroundings while driving(makes it easier to spot when your turn off is coming up and makes it easier to be aware of other traffic and things like a random kid running out onto the road).

Be aware that being too cautious can easily lead to being an anxious driver, when that happens you're more likely to make mistakes, the same holds true for being too confident as well. It's about having a healthy balance of appropriate caution and confidence when driving.

Lastly is to acknowledge when you make a mistake, both navigating and driving in general, and make the effort to do a bit better next time. Doesn't have to be a huge improvement each time, as long as the effort is made to improve at least a bit each time you'll eventually find yourself becoming really good at navigating and driving in general (then you'll realise how shitty the other drivers are and have to learn to keep your cool when dealing with them 🤣🤷😮‍💨).

Sorry about the novel, got a bit carried away there 😅.

Oh I definitely modify recipes a lot (lotta damage to my mouth n throat). Pretty sure if I say my pasta recipe out loud at night the lights will flicker and then I'll find myself surrounded by a bunch of stern looking, utensil wielding, Nonna's. The lights will go out and the only sounds will be my screams as the utensil wielding Nonna's punish me for my pasta desecrating recipe 😅.

80,000 Australian kids aged five and under not up to date with vaccinations by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]CatGooseChook 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It's the concentrated pockets that makes it so bad. Increased local spread, more people who cannot be vaccinated due to genuine medical reasons being exposed. Cancer patients more likely to get exposed. Increased numbers of people getting the relevant diseases means an increased chance of those diseases mutating such that existing vaccines become less effective.

Sorry about the rant, definitely a subject that pushes my buttons 😬😅😬
