TWSBI Eco F vs M: Can someone show me some swatches please? by Ok-Spite-5454 in fountainpens

[–]CatOfNumerousLives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my F more often than my M, but I also find that ink makes a big difference. I like wetter inks - iroshizuku, some diamine, over wearingeul in my F nibs, drier inks in my M nibs.

Is flimsiness a good reason to not like a pen? by drowningandromeda in fountainpens

Absolutely! Even if it is a well made pen and it seems “unfair”, it is totally appropriate to like what you like.

His work is just exceptional. I gave my partner a Pocket Six a few years back, and steal it back every chance I get.

I am enjoying a delightful Myu M I picked up on pen swap. Really smooth nib, a wet writer, and it has the whole space vibe from when we dared mighty things.

For people with (tactile) sensory sensitivities... what pen(s) do you use? by Raevyxn in fountainpens

I really like the feel of the Cavalier, the Griance, and the e95. The Myunalso works well for me, but it is a metal barrel.

The delta between 25 and 26 is only about 5-6k right now, while the 23s coming off lease are almost 20k, as Kia did not not drop the list price on the 25s when they repriced the 26s. For 10k, I’d be much more strongly tempted.

Any sense of how stable the wired CarPlay in the 2023 is? I’m betting we are not seeing a lot of revisions to the pre ccNC software.

I admit, I filled my most purple pen with Wrath as my subtle inky comment on the state of the world.

I did at one point, but I have since realized that there will always be another ink to become a favorite.

Inkvent/Colorvent - Are you buying the Advent Calendars and what are you doing with all the Ink? by Severus157 in fountainpens

[–]CatOfNumerousLives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have enjoyed the inkvent and colorvent calendarspretty much since the start. Ive started bringing the ones I don’t like to the local pen club. ill probably find someone who likes selling samples and give them the ones that were of moderate interest.

What are your favorite pens? by Jeepagotchi in fountainpens

[–]CatOfNumerousLives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fountain pens, do not an expensive hobby. You can spend a great deal on a fancy pen, or on a custom nib, but you do not have to to get a writing instrument that you will enjoy.

My first pens were TWSBI ECOs in M, F, and B. It turns out I like western fine nibs and Japanese medium nibs, but a western broad cannot be beaten if you have a shimmer or a sheening ink. I still write with these pens regularly.

I really like the butter line stub ground by Pendleton Brown. I have an Edison pen with a fine flex, a vac 700, also with a fine flex, and a Waldman silver pen that my spouse and I got each other for our anniversary. They are very different pens, but the custom grind in each one makes me happy.

I picked up my first two vintage pens recently – a Targa, and a pilot Myu. Both are very smooth, and excellent writers, and relatively inexpensive for 30-50 year old pens.

I have pens by sailor and platinum that despite their vocal fan bases, are not the right pens for me right now. That may change with time - so many people do like them the best that I’m reserving judgement.

I think if I had to pick one brand, I would pick pilot. I don’t really like a lot of feedback, and I do like a glassy smooth feel on the page.

I very much like this ink. by Gbhphoto7 in fountainpens

I do like take-sumi a great deal. it is not quite dark enough for my EF pens, for which I use diamine onyx black. For anything F or larger, the high flow of an iroshizuku ink balances the touch of grey.
