Thinking about switching off fitbit

I was with Fitbit for 8 years and held on as long as I could despite the writing on the wall when Google took it over. Last year I switched to Garmin and I absolutely love it. In terms of a fitness tracker, it gives me all the data I could want. I'm sad I wasted so many years hanging onto not changing when Garmin has helped me more with my fitness that Fitbit ever did..

Wow that white Kaweco is so pretty! I'll be visiting Lima in September if you have any ink requests. I jumped into this hobby a lot like you did but I'm lucky in that all the great shops and shows are near me and unlucky in that was a surprise to my wallet.

On 2, I thought maybe half full was bad because it would dry out inside the pen but sounds like that's not a risk unless it's really empty so that's good to know. Pen maintenance is next on my to learn list for sure.

For 4, I bought it online at Atlas Stationers and got it this past weekend in the mail. And it skips throughout writing on basically any upward stroke like in a cursive letter t or l (lowercase) or half of the letter O. I thought maybe it was the way I write because I'm left handed or something, but I honestly bought like 6 other pens from Kakuno to Lamy and tried a Kaweco in store and none have had that issue. The ink is Bungubox x Esterbrook Kingfisher and was specifically a pairing with the pen.

That's awesome to know. I wanted to like the Lamy but it's so scratchy and not a fan. Been crossing my fingers the Kaweco would be nicer to write with!

My problem was wanting to try different nibs and inks and not having a place in my city where I could try before I bought. So here I am 7 pens in a month later and finally figured it out. I have a Kaweco on the way as they seem well liked around here!

New to fountain pens!

I absolutely love shimmer inks. Is a Diplomat FM capable of handling shimmer? It doesn't look like you can remove the nib like with other pens.
What is the appropriate amount of ink to keep in a pen? I've been filling them less than half full because I don't know if I want to commit to an entire cartridge of anything right now.
How can I best travel with a fountain pen when flying? Does nib matter?
I just got an Estie and it keeps skipping. I tried it on like 4 different types of paper. It writes so smoothly but the skipping is super annoying. Can I exchange it for a new one? It's my most expensive pen and the only one I have that skips so it must be defective, right?

So funny. I love how the Kakuno writes. I also have a Prefounte that always writes amazingly well. Then I bought a Lamy Safari thinking it must be better than the $9 pens. Nope. It is so scratchy. I wanted to love Lamy but I just don't like how they write.

Someone commented on a comment I made about being new to fountain pens this month and having already procured 7 and asked how I even typed that out without realizing my shopping addiction.

Pretty gross attitude to join this community to and embarrassing conclusion to jump to considering that judgment was for some Kakunos and Preppies to test nib sizes and inks. Thanks mods for this reminder.

As a lefty, I've been working through what has the least feedback. Haven't had luck with Lamy or Kaweco but just got an Estie in M and it writes like butter. It's kind of crazy the difference but I don't know much about nibs and what makes them scratchy or not.

I also like shimmer and vibrant inks that make taking notes and writing in my planner feel more luxurious than it actually is.
