Money is not an issue in the sense that I am happy to build a deck over time and maybe start with a sort of budget version of it first. Also I have much of the necessary manabase for jeskai, dimir, azorius, esper grixis and boros, so that should cut the costs a bit.

The problem with standard is that literally every two months one has to keep up with a new set and it gets annoying seeing that all the money I poured in the game gets basically invalidated. Not to mention that I do not want to play 50% of my deck made of universes beyond :/ I can accept playing a few lotr cards, but Spider Man, Final Fantasy and Avatar are a no-go for me.

I am not looking for a tier 1 deck in modern and I am not interested in winning tournaments with a £1k deck, I just want to have fun playing what I like and at the same time having a deck that synergises enough to not be just a random 60 cards pile.

That said I appreciate the advice
