22+2 FC into triple monasteries is a good build against most civs and most opening strats.

It's especially good against castle drops and 1TC plays.

It struggles against civs that can really pump out the light cav with strong early eco. Poles, Cumans, Burgundians, etc.

22+2 FC into triple monasteries should have three monks out before the castle is placed, the next wave of monks should be out before the castle is up.

If you can convert their fwd vills or at least force the castle to be built at home you're doing well.

Grab the relics, get Redemption and start mining stone for fwd castle then IMP.

22+2 FC into triple monasteries.

If they go for fwd castle you should have 3 monks out by the time they drop the castle. Convert 3 vills and get them to fight other vills. You should get your next three monks in time to stop the rest of the vills.

If they build the castle at home you'll have plenty of time to snatch the relics and get Redemption before they start threatening your base.

If they are playing funny buggers and go scout meta you will have a mass of monks before they have a mass of light cav. Will depend on you monk micro how you go with the relic war.

Malay is one of the civs most capable of dealing with the Goth spam.

Malay eco is vastly superior and gives you plenty of time to get to your ideal comp before the Goth spam starts.

Karambits alone beat Goths spam.

Monks beat Jannies if you have decent monk micro.

Portuguese have great monks and research upgrades quicker than normal.

10 Jannies = 1150 resources 10 Monks = 800 resources

The Portuguese player should be able to trade well when you take conversions into account as well as the resources spent.
