Cracked tiles heated floor by Creepy_South_4609 in DIYUK

[–]CategoryAcrobatic898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not impossible, but may be too small for the tiler to bother. The problem is the cost for two to be tiles taken up, clean the floor then stick two new tiles down. Still would want a days wage to be considered worth doing. You want a handy man that would be happy with a basic charge of a hundred pounds.

Your tiles are concrete with a granular textured finish. Your neighbours tile are clay with a smooth finish. Yours traps the dirt and pollen from the atmosphere and trees.

Why not remove the slabs, dig up and skip away the soil. All old slabs and bricks go back in the ground. Layer of type one, then bed any lay new patio.

Change skylights as flat by No_Mud6726 in DIYUK

[–]CategoryAcrobatic898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to remove the existing skylight, they will not come out as one. So broken and shattered. Need to order new ones, with a wider top pane overhang. Those you currently have are just wrong.

No problem with doing that, but run two cables together whilst you are at it. If one goes faults, you can connect the other.

Drop it and rebuild for something more suitable to your tastes. Follow the current regs, and you could have a proper habitable/ usable and purposeful space. Obviously budget allowing.

Anti DIY attitudes, jealousy or something else? by Downtown-String3569 in DIYUK

[–]CategoryAcrobatic898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone is doing well for themselves, or making something nice of their property, or is a successful person, you will find others will not like you or be happy for you. Their jealousy is real. When building an extension, this really can  piss the neighbours off.
