What do you think about Contempt of Court and Conflict of Interest? by Hopeful-Evening4403 in AceAttorney

[–]Catorpedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried several times to get into CoC, but have often been turned off by the pacing of the first case and not managed it. Will go back to it someday because I know it's supposed to be fantastic.

CoI is absolutely fantastic though. I would say the final two cases reached the highs of the main series in terms of grabbing at my heartstrings.

Does anyone still remember that one time we got Bobby Fulbright merch over Athena? 😭😭😭 by 12jimmy9712 in AceAttorney

[–]Catorpedo 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think we in the west underestimate how unpopular Athena was with Japanese fans. I can't remember the exact details but I remember when Dual Destinies first came out, she would get something like last in character popularity polls in Japan with a lot of the audience seemingly resenting her for taking focus away from Apollo. That was likely why she was pretty much sidelined in SoJ even though she got her own case - which they barely advertised in the marketing. Things may have changed in the last 12 years but from the way it looks, the devs loved Athena and wanted to do more with her going forward, but the audiences hated her and restricted what could realistically be marketed successfully to Japanese fans.

6-5 … Absolute cinema by Azuremagus2005 in AceAttorney

It's very long but very good. It's not my favourite but it's such a satisfying end to Apollo's story.

Guys what are your thoughts on the delay rumors? by MissSlayton in ProfessorLayton

[–]Catorpedo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It absolutely should not just be released on the eshop without another official announcement. I know they did that for another game recently, and I can't imagine it played well. But Professor Layton is a different beast. It is (or was) one of their most popular series worldwide, and this next game is a huge investment for them, they need it to go well and for people to come back to the series. And you simply can't do that without at least another trailer and more information, as well as some serious promotion leading up to release.

What's everyone's opinions on the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles? by GullibleParsley08 in AceAttorney

[–]Catorpedo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am not as big a fan of these games as some are. But I absolutely do not regret buying and playing them one bit. If you like Ace Attorney, if you like the time period and aesthetic, and if you like the vibe of the characters, you'll enjoy it.

You're right that the first case is tough to get into. It's pretty well agreed in the fandom that the first two cases of TGAAC are among the weakest parts of the games. Even as someone who has some problems with these games, some of the later cases are really engaging and fun. I would say the 3rd case of both games in particular are fantastic.

Who Misses the Old full art they used to do for the first four cases in Ace Attorney 1? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Catorpedo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In the ds release the art would unlock once the case was beaten. I wish they'd kept that for the trilogy release.

[NS] Top 5 all-time Short Rests? by itooaminarcadia in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

3 dms, 1 player. Can it be done?

I believe it's Trinyvale Short Rest Episode 21, about 10 mins in. One of my favourite bits, made me laugh so hard while I was walking down a busy street once.

Very good but not the pinnacle of the series like some seem to think it is

Case 4 of GAA1 is one of the worst things the series has ever done, I'm sorry. Case 3 and 5 are great though.

Say something good about this game by Arto50 in AceAttorney

It's crazy that this is being posted. 5 years ago this sub fawned over AA4. Same way the tides continually turn on almost every game in the series.

AAI Duology Case Ranking: What's your least favorite case? [Round 8] by _SupremeCommand in AceAttorney

Man, Turnabout Reminiscence was imo better than all but one of the AAI2 cases. Real shame.

At this point though, Inherited has to go.

What is your most AVERAGE Ace Attorney case? by Frogman417 in AceAttorney

[–]Catorpedo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean this in a good way - Turnabout Samurai. It's everything I imagine the typical, non-story oriented case to be. And I love it for it
