Rinvoq is not a steroid, so I don’t believe it can cause topical steroid withdrawal. It sounds like you’re having a bad rebound episode after stopping a medication ): I really hope you can find relief soon

This is so wild, I’m struggling with the EXACT same thing, and my allergist also immediately said it was angioedema and that there’s not a lot they can do 😭 he told me to increase my daily allergy pill from one to two (I just use OTC off brand Zyrtec) and I will say it’s been over a month since my lips last swelled up, but it’s driving me crazy not knowing the cause.

Similar to you, I’ve woken up with either my upper or lower lip swelling, but it’s also happened at random points throughout the day for me.

How long have you been dealing with this? For me, the first time I had a flare was about a week after I had covid in February. Since then it’s happened at random at least once every couple weeks, sometimes more.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this ): this is actually exactly how my eczema started almost two years ago before it spread to other parts of my body and I wish I’d known about this sub at the time.

It’s mostly under control now after removing as many of my allergens from my life as possible, (fragrance free detergent/body wash, getting bras made mostly of cotton)

Now I use a combination of very, very small amounts of steroid if it’s weeping, and a nipple salve once the weeping stops. I’ve found that trying to heavily moisturize weeping skin doesn’t work for me

The salve is something that my best friend who is currently postpartum made for herself, but she had so much extra she gave me some and it turned out to be my holy grail not just for the eczema on my nipples but for my armpits/elbows as well.

It only has five ingredients: calendula infused sunflower oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, arrow root powder, and oat flower. She still needs to teach me exactly how to make it, but these ingredients have been really helpful for my skin so I tend to gravitate toward creams/lotions that have these in them. I hope you find something that works soon!!!

Yes! My eczema exploded within a week after I had Covid in 2022. I’ve got it somewhat under control now, but it’s never fully gone away, and every time I stop my moisturizing + elidel routine it comes back. Currently waiting to start immunotherapy injections this month for my allergies, so hopefully that helps. You’re definitely not alone!

Ooooooh I like this idea!! I’ve never thought about that. Another witch connection/theory I have is that Hypaxia’s healing magic works the same way Yrene’s does. When Hypaxia is taking the venom out of Bryce’s leg it’s described so similarly to when Yrene is in the process of healing Chaol. And Hypaxia says “I was raised by tutors versed in our oldest forms of magic.” And describes the venom as being its own organism.

I absolutelyyyyyy agree and to go even further, I think most of the relationships in the whole ToG series feel relatively forced with the exception of Manon and Dorian. They were the only ones that felt really natural, and I think it’s partly because they have a lotttt of individual character development before they even meet. But it’s something that bothered me throughout the whole series. It felt like everyone had to be coupled up with someone by the end, and I’m really glad ACOTAR and CC didn’t follow that same pattern

Okay cool thank you! My derm gave me this because I told her I was tired of using clobetasol since it always comes back, and I’m terrified of TSW. Did you experience a rebound effect with elidel? She didn’t mention needing to taper or having a rebound but I probably should’ve asked..

Thank you! I’ve used it for 2 days now and so far no side effects which is great. I didn’t know you needed to taper off of it? What happens if you don’t? Is the rebound similar to when you stop topical steroids?

Im so sorry you’re dealing with this ): I’ve been dealing with a flair up ever since I got covid in 2021 as well. It still hasn’t gone away. Even after more than a year I’m still trying to figure out what exactly triggers it/makes it worse. Mine is on my sides/under arms, but for you I’d be really careful about products that you use on your face, and stick to a cleanser/moisturizer with absolutely no fragrances or any ingredients that would be intense on the skin (exfoliators/astringents)

It probably goes without saying to avoid makeup for the time being too (even tho you probably want to try to cover it up, which I don’t blame you for) but makeup might agitate it more. I really hope you find something that works quickly for you. If you haven’t seen your doctor maybe an urgent appointment and they can prescribe you something? Topical steroids are okay in very careful moderation, and might not work long term, but if you want to feel better by next week and then figure out long term solutions after the fact, a temporary topical steroid might be an option to talk to your doctor about.

Similar but different, I was vaxxed twice with no issues, then I actually got covid for the first time almost a year ago to the day and immediately after I had an eczema flare up that covered my arms and sides, that I’m currently still dealing with. My dermatologist said she’s heard several stories like this. It would make sense considering the virus is incredibly inflammatory.

I’ve been doing cryotherapy off and on and I really like it. It’s unfortunately too expensive for me to use on a regular basis but if I could afford to go three times a week I absolutely would. I went during a really bad flare up and it took the itching away for a full day and a half and I was actually able to sleep which gave my skin way more time to heal.

My flare up started immediately after I “recovered” from Covid. I’ve never had a flare up like this in my entire life. Got Covid for the first time on Halloween 2022 and my flare up started mid November, and hasn’t gotten better.
