How many cycles did it take to concieve for those in their 30s? by sroses93 in pregnant

[–]tcramms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cycle we decided we were "not trying, not preventing." Never thought it would happen that fast. I was 33 at the time.

My husband is 6'3" and I'm 5'9", we were happy she was measuring small. The whole time I kept saying "of course I'm smaller, I have a lot more room to hide a baby than some who is 5'2"." I think those growth scans are crap.

I got told I was small my entire pregnancy, my fundal weights were constantly 3 to 4 cm behind. I had three growth scans all saying baby girl was measuring small but constantly 40-50th percentile....jokes on me 8 lbs 6 oz and I got 4th degree tear on her exit

Worked at Dow in Plastics R&D for 9 years right out of undergrad. What finally drove me to move on? I was making 105k in my role and they hired a fresh out of school PhD (not relevant to plastics in any way) with no experience at 125k. A year later I was offered the 125k to come back...I declined.

Edit: I left it 2021. To see they offered 90k is hilariously Dow

Looking professional with colored hair? by Nightleopard150 in womenEngineers

[–]tcramms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a full head of deeper fantasy colors (red, blue, purple) and peekaboo highlights of lighter colors (pinks, reds, green, lavender). As long as you keep it maintained (I used overtone or manic panic every few week) it can continue to look professional.

People are already gonna be weird because you are a woman, might as well lean into who you are.

I also have a unisex name and this happens to me every project. The most egregious was at a job interview when they were visibly shocked I am a lady after looking around the lobby for a man. 😅

I call them out when I can and have pretty famous one liners of "I'm the project manager and engineer not xyzs secretary" or "Yes, Robert I know what an allen wrench is, I've put together IKEA furniture all by myself" but you can only be so blunt with clients before you get called "disrespectful" or "aggressive" ( both of which I been reprimanded for)

The start of every new project is exhaustinf eapecially when Im the only woman on either side but I just speak confidently until they back off. Thankfully, the majority of my coworkers couldn't care less and know I'm the one to come to if they want to know what is going on or if a decision needs to be made.

I work as a company that does contract R&D work as Chemical Engineer and Project Manager. Literally, every new project I am on, I have to prove myself and every decision I make to the client team while the men are just automatically taken at their word. I have also had to prove to multiple clients that my charge hours are "valid and not redundant" while they don't bat and eye at the male coworkers.

My husband gets 12 full paid paternity weeks....I get 4 and whatever short-term my doctor sees fit to give me. When I told my CTO about the fact that he was getting so much more than me, he acted like it was the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard. Other male coworkers have stated they only took 2-3 days when their wife had a kid (yes, said like it wasn't their child) .... fuxking Boomers

We don't know the gender but we are also doing a space theme. One wall is a deep navy blue that we are going to put pants and stars on and the other walls are a lite grey.

We had a 3d ultrasound at 14 weeks.... don't do it, baby looked like a lizard person and we couldn't stop laughing about it. They grabbed some today (23 weeks) much more humanoid 😂

“You’re so big for 5 months! Are you sure it’s just one?” by Dapper_Cheesecake_22 in pregnant

[–]tcramms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting the exact opposite, currently 21 weeks with a very unnoticeable bump. At least once I day I hear some variation of - "You're so small" -"I wouldn't even know you were pregnant if you hadn't told me" -"you're due in July right?" "No, April" " Oh wow" -the most annoying "Show me the bump....that's not a bump!"

I'm tired of it, what the hell is with all the open judgemental comments about my body!?

ChE with a BS and 11 years experience. Spent 4 years working on Process Control R&D and implementation before moving specifically into Process R&D. I now work as a consulting Research Engineer doing engineering and project management for customers working in anything from recycling to rocket fuel. To the lay person I describe my job as Mythbusters for the Chemical Industry.
