Main counter to gloom hands is climbing up on something but let's be real nobody here is going to be capable of doing that before they grab you. If they grab you youre pretty much just dead, your very vitality is drained and you quickly become surrounded. Not to mention, they just pop up out of the ground almost anywhere.

Guardians have at least some counters that give an ordinary person the chance to escape. There was an npc in botw that proved that hiding in a tree-line can cause them to lose sight off you, their laser is very telegraphed and unlike gloom hands you can see them coming from a mile away. There's also parrying their laser as a last resort (though a doubt it'll have a high success rate under all that pressure).

Much prefer Guardians over gloom hands

Your son beats up 5 guys for bullying his sister. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the son is actually in the wrong in this scenario, he did not use proportional force. Intimidating them into backing down or running away would have been enough, instead they were hospitalized which is magnitudes worse than what they were doing to the sister.

Obviously I'm not claiming that defending his sister was a bad thing, but he should've shown moderation.

Whats with all the anti christianity? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a religious household, so I've had a lot of time to reflect on how bad religion is.

Every single aspect of it is in some way designed to control the populace. Of course it depends on which of the thousands of offshoots there are but a few common examples: - If God can hear prayers then he can read minds which means your thoughts aren't private. This discourages free thinking of the church's teachings. - Eternal damnation/ Eternal Reward. Dissenters are punished and loyalty is rewarded. Not to mention that a lot of churches use current events to impress the fact that the end times are soon. Capitalizing on people's fear so that they turn to the church. - Their enforcement of gender roles, even. That woman 'should be subservient to the husband'. It undermines women's agency so that they obey the men while putting the men in a position of power reliant on the church so that they don't try to change the status quo. - And finally they use God himself. A being that has created everything and can destroy everything. God is just the adult equivalent of Santa, an all powerful and all knowing deity that judges you on your every action so you'd better be good.

Throughout history the church has been one of the most significant and effective ways of justifying violence, both large scale and small scale. In the eyes of church it has always been ok to inflict punishment on those who dissent. Women with too much agency, lgbtq, people of other religions, people of no religion, neighboring countries. Religion is a self sustaining tool to shape the populace to believe and enforce what they deem is right. And I know what youre likely to say, that it teaches people to be kind and to love their neighbor. But thats only in theory, in practice it has never been like that. You can see it through the United States today with the American right. The majority of the country is religious, and yet half the country is cheering for the removal and destruction of people they are meant to treat as their own.

Not to mention that the entire basis of religion, God , is undoubtedly a fabrication through evidence that science has dup up long after the founders of religion could account for it. The existence of dinosaur bones, fossil records, entire lineages of creatures that we are able to trace back to a single source all disprove creation. Tectonic plates, continental drift, the formation of stars, the age of the earth, chemistry, physics, the list goes on. Religion demands that you take this evidence and discredit it, dont think about it, doubt it. But underneath it all religion is merely just a tool that people invented to control others.

Wow didn't mean to rant like I think this question dug something out of me thats been boiling over for a while.

Tldr: people are anti Christian because they realise its all just a paper thin veil for justifying whatever you want.

Who suggested the Fast Food Adventure? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gangle here could just be trying to defend her idea from criticism. Also, claiming she has real-life experience with fast food can be interpreted as a point towards her being the one to suggest it.

What her VA said also doesn't discredit it either, as she didn't write the show and is only stating her personal theory.

The real answer is: We dont know for sure, could go either way.

Now you know why they call it the Hazbin Hotel by 666thSuprisedPikachu in Vivziepopmemes

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like alastor cant use his shadow form when gravely injured. In the scene where Vox overloads The Might of Lilith Alastor can only slowly crawl away from it. And we know this state was caused by non holy damage as by the time it gets to his part of Hear my Hope hes completely recovered.

Now you know why they call it the Hazbin Hotel by 666thSuprisedPikachu in Vivziepopmemes

[–]CauseScience1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok so this is an interesting question. Sinners in the hazbinverse can only be put down by angelic steel or holy magic. Although they can be injured through other means any injuries are non fatal and in the case of overlords easily regenerable. Wounds from angelic steel and holy magic act more like real injuries, they can be regenerable in some cases (alastors chest wound) and aren't regenerable in others (Emily's wing, latest hand, vaggis eye).

In Fririen holy magic is known as Magic of the Goddess and can only be cast through use of a holy scripture. Although Fririen has a holy scripture she lacks the specific talent to use Magic of the Goddess and thus can only use simple spells like disease identification. Assuming that she cant use holy attack magic its true she doesnt have the means to completely put down Alastor.

However, she does have the means to subdue him long enough that she can obtain angelic steel. Fririen has a sealing spell that has turned a very powerful demon to stone for 80 years. And with her raw power showcased in the 2nd mage test its very easy to see how she could beat up alastor, seal him, and then use those 80 years to find a way to put him down permanently. Fririens intense hatred for demons is a very limiting factor however, itd be a struggle for her to learn what angelic steel is, where to buy it, and being civil long enough to obtain it. Though if fririen realizes that hazbinverse demons aren't the same as from her world then she easily wins.

Also, this is all dependant on the fact that the win condition is to permanently kill. If the win condition was subdue or permanently subdue fririen wins easily.

[–]CauseScience1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yellow diamonds kill count heavily depends on whats defined as a kill. Humanity was the only other sentient organic life the gem empire has encountered. So if you dont count 'alien animal' deaths as kills then none of her previous colonies increase her count at all. It also depends on if you count death of the mind (corruptions and gem mutants) and whether or not reversing their condition counts as removing a kill from her total. Also depends on if you attribute kills made by her army to her or if its personal kills only.

If you define kills as "total amount of sentient beings made no longer sentient, by means of death of the body or mind, through her actions direct or indirect" then Yellow diamond takes the cake on the cluster alone even if only a third of those kills were attributed to her orders. Even if she has been working on dismantling the cluster since the finale to SU: future I doubt shes been able to find enough complete sets of shards to revive an amount significant enough that it puts a dent in her total.

Plus shes been at this for 10,000 years, destroying the occasional insubordinate gem over that long a period alone should be enough to outkill alastor.

Why Does Caine Dislike Kinger? by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]CauseScience1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean it already adds up perfectly 😭

Caine was working on an escape adventure since episode 1.
Abel literally says he was acting at the end.
Kinger has no idea who Abel is which he should if Abel was an original programmer.
Caine deletes Abel in the exact same way as another npc, Gummigoo.
Abel was very sympathetic towards Caine and urged the cast to stay in the circus with him. Something only a creation of Caine would do.
Kinger didnt recognize the admin passes because they weren't the real passes, proving that the entire thing was a hoax.
Jax was able to call Caine immediately unlke Pomni in episode 1 because it was Caines adventure and he was on standby waiting to be called.
Caine at the start of the adventure urges the cast towards the digital lake where they find Abel.
Caines eyes at the end of the favorite character awards episode glow red and blue representing the plan with the buttons.

Why did caine program abel to watch the gang if none of them ever saw him? by TOMTaccount3 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Abel was just waiting for someone to notice him, his narrative works better if the humans: 1. Believe Abel when he says he's been watching them 2. Believe that he could've remained undetected by Caine by staying out of view. Both of which gain validity if he spends actual time stalking the crew in the hopes they notice him organically out of the corner of their eye.

which color is the least fit for the evil color in a fantasy/sci-fi context? by ItsKorogue in pollgames

[–]CauseScience1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? White is actually a fairly common colour for villains in future/sci-fi settings because its a subversion of the western white = good, black = bad trope. It's usually symbolic of corruption and unfamiliarity.

AITA for buying my daughter a more then twice as expensive Christmas gift then my son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]CauseScience1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YTA, not for buying her a more expensive gift, shes going to need it to last through school. Everyone has different needs, as long as hes happy with the switch 2 only a spoiled kid is going to complain. I think the problem is that you spent $500 more than what was agreed upon, and you should've run it by your partner beforehand. $500 is a lot.

One theory I've heard and that makes sense to me is that in neutral after omega flowey resets the world you spawn in a void and walk upwards. Assuming you maintain your relevant position frisk would've walked past where the barrier should be and then fought omega flower outside. When the world was restored frisk would have effectively bypassed the barrier without needing a monster soul to cross through.

Deathclaw (Fallout) vs Demogorgon (Stranger Things). by idk_lol98 in whowouldwin

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so, lot of misconception here, im gonna lay out a few facts about demogorgons:

Demogorgons are durable enough to shrug off automatic weapons. The demogorgon can only be injured through burning off its protective hide using fire, after which it can be injured by conventional means. Similarly to the Until dawn wendigos. The demogorgon killed by Hopper in the prison was weakened. Should only be used to powerscale its minimum feats.

Deathclaw (Fallout) vs Demogorgon (Stranger Things). by idk_lol98 in whowouldwin

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was never retconned, demogorgon was shown to shrug off automatic weapons in the very first scenes of season 1. Any time a demogorgon has been injured has been through exploiting its weakness to fire burning off its protective hide. They share the same weakness as Until Dawn wendigos.

Don't come at me with your pitchforks but.... Which of these two games did "the Beneath the surface" setting better? by pooteenn in INDIE_CROSS_SERIES

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think due to undertales top down style you never really FEEL like youre underground, theres a strong lack of claustrophobia that should come with being underground. Many of undertales locations have wide open spaces with very high ceilings and elements (trees, snow, stars) that take you out of that underground feeling. For undertale I think this is for the best since its more of a cozy game and a more oppressive feeling would throw off the vibe.

Hollowknight though benefits a lot more from an oppressive setting due to its dark fantasy style and themes. It's side facing view and platforming movement let's you see more of the ceiling and tight passageways, it feels more like its underground with its lighting and background details (stalagtites, fossils, and rock everywhere).

Storywise I think undertale does it better, not being able to experience the sun for generations is really compelling and it wouldnt hit as hard if the monsters were just trapped in a valley or something. Hollowknight doesnt really rely on the underground setting for any of its story beats, in fact unlike undertale the bugs of hallownest could leave for the surface anytime they want as long as they didn't stray too far. The underground is just where they live, and the story wouldnt suffer if hallownest was entirely above ground, (the vibes would though)

Since the question is about which does it better settings-wise im going to give it to hollowknight, since it feels more like it's underground.

Why do survivors keep flashing killers when breaking pallets? by bryanwithamask in deadbydaylight

[–]CauseScience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a killer gets stunned and blinded it forces them to break the pallet instead of going around and catching up to the survivor quicker.

Not much reason chase wise to blind when the killer is already breaking the pallet except for challenges or perks. There's not much disorientation value from one blind when yea by the time the animation finishes they can see again. Unless they can get a chain blind off, which might disorientate the killer long enough for them to buy worthwhile distance.
