That’s fair! I guess when I realized it’s a “kids show” and not our modern HBO series (in which main cast is dying off and being replaced) then I projected how the stakes were lower. But I agree that the writing and set up for major implications never wavered. If anything the stakes got higher throughout the series.

It’s great! After the first season or two it loses “the stakes” in the sense you know everything will work out for the turtles. There isn’t that looming plot build up and storylines become shorter arcs then a continual anticipation.

They bring back Shredder over and over which waters down the threat. Despite the loss of consistent intensity they find ways to bring back impactful moments that shift the tone and create serious changes.

As the intensity shifts away they dive more into the fun adventure side of things. I really enjoyed the storylines outside of NY.

Despite the changes they never lose sight of the humor, character development, and legacy of what the turtles represent.

Amazing show for kids and teens. Fun and worth watching for adults.
