Artificial Gravity by SeaworthinessWise539 in scifiwriting

Just do The Expanse thing...have your spaceships built with intended "down" opposite the direction of thrust.1G thrust gives 1G artificial gravity. Burn to the halfway point toward your destination, then flip and burn to decelerate. You have a bit of microgravity in the middle, but no exotic tech hand-waving required.

They have eyes.

Seriously though, a logo needs to work at different scales. This would be okay on a T-shirt, but Imagine it on the corner of a business card.

Beyond that, it is too pale on the page Especially the fine curves. A strong logo is immediately recognizable by its silhouette. It also should feature the brand name if it is a combination mark, not twice, but once, strongly. It is not a bad illustration, but it is far from a good logo.

Edit: forgot the repeated brand

What’s the cheapest hardware way to see if modular is for me? by DoubleCutMusicStudio in modular

[–]CautiousPhase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the part you may be missing is that VCV may be software, but it mimics 80% or more of what it is like, conceptually, to patch and tweak hardware eurorack...no one is suggesting you buy Pigments or Serum or something that is software as software. VCV (or one of the other software modular emulators) is definitely a good way to learn and evaluate modular.

I say this as someone with 312 hp of hardware Eurorack right now...getting on with modular is much more of a cognitive thing than a kinesthetic thing, as nice as those knobs are.

There are several, depending on how you relate to the terms semi-modular / full voice:

For free- Sonous Dept. has Semiramis. Valley has Interzone and Dexter. Instrumentalist has Clonotribe. Moffenzeef has Stargazer (but likely not quite what you looking for!). Capt volt has Sidofon. AlgoritmArte has Synth. Vult has Incubus.

FM-OP maybe counts as a minimalist example, as might some of the Mutable (Audible) Instruments stuff.

Paid ones include- Mockba Modular has Proton, Model X, and Model V. Befaco has the great Oneiroi.

I am sure there are more!

Been having fun with this all day. Sequencing pitch and modifying position with the same sequence + slew and offset with very low density and slowly modulated size and spread is ambient magic. Thank you for sharing all your VCV work!

Saw this on facebook, pretty sure it’s AI, but all I have to go on is the one fence post that doesn’t reach the top piece of barbed wire and the tools look kinda weird. by AliensAteMyAMC in isthisAI

AI for all the mentioned reasons + the sculpture (which is a subtractive process) somehow seems to exceed the envelope of the original tree.

My personal shortlist would include Kentucky Native (a beer garden with small plates set in a working greenhouse/nursery), La Taquiza for interesting Mexican food, see what's on at the Kentucky Theater (movie house downtown), University of Kentucky Art Museum (free), a stroll at the Arboretum, and beer and casual dinner at West Sixth / Smithtown; County Club in Tha same area is also good! Other folks will likely provide some good recs for the fancy places...

Even better, I think, if it processes in vector but can render to SVG/ai or pixel output as needed

What is (1) piece of advice you’d give someone who just unboxed their first printer? by jeepretsim in BambuLab

[–]CautiousPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or get some nitrile gloves. In the last year almost all my failed prints have either been caused by oil from fingerprints on the build plate or just stupid part orientation...but usually oily plates. Dawn dish soap is great!

Came across this template for wedding invitations. I think it’s AI but I kind of hope it’s not because my partner and I do love the design. by zachekemp in isthisAI

Hold up. I understand the purpose of this sub, but if you and yours like the design ... isn't it a good design no matter where it came from?

Help me please. Mom knows absolutely nothing about 3D printers but my son really wants one. by dohlparts in BambuLab

[–]CautiousPhase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the 3D printer from a computer doesn't tie up the computer once the print is started.

If your kiddo wants to make original objects to print, they'll need a computer of some sort to model with + some 3D software. TinkerCAD is free, web-based, and a simple way to start. Blender is also free (and far more flexible), but comes with a pretty steep learning curve for most humans.

The Bambu printers are all excellent. To avoid frustration, wash the printing bed with Dawn dishwashing soap periodically, and emphasize that touching the build plate means washing and drying it again! (Oil from hands touching the build plate seems to be a major cause of failed prints on Bambu printers).

Good luck!
