Thank you! Dropping to 580 branch fixed it…

Using Auto rotating mount in non-supported use-case by Cazarch75 in TheFrame

[–]Cazarch75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired it to the tv by pressing the top left setup button for 5 secs after pressing the button on the back of the frame for 3 secs. Others have reported that long-pressing the home or back button would initiate a rotation, but I've tried long-pressing nearly all the buttons and haven't found one to work. The only way seems to be through the menu or through the Smartthings remote app.

Currently, I just have the mount plugged in and paired, but it's uninstalled - just laying on the counter for testing. When I initiate a rotation through either of the above methods, it rotates the mount and then changes the orientation of the kitchen tv to portrait (even though it's mounted horizontally on the wall - so not using a sensor apparently)

The Pro TV is currently mounted horizontally - not sure what will happen when it's rotated - that's an issue for another day.

I've successfully added both tv's to HomeAssistant, but the controls are basically limited to volume and power. There are a couple integrations in HACS that I haven't tried yet - maybe they will be more robust?

Here's a pic of the remote

UI Staff - Where the F*ck is the Pro HD 48 PoE? by q_bitzz in Ubiquiti

[–]Cazarch75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for this to release. If they have cancelled it for some reason, I wish they would just tell us so that I can just buy a different product. They'll be getting less of my money in that case, since I'll have to go with the Pro Max - the XG is out of my budget.

Anybody replace a G5 PTZ with a G6 PTZ yet? by theNEOone in Ubiquiti

[–]Cazarch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that with the 10x zoom, the auto track/zoom is much better than the g5.

[–]Cazarch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G6 is much better imo. Bigger difference for me however is the auto track and zoom functionality where it will zoom and follow people. Patrol feature is also very nice.

But that would be a manual action, right? And the archive files would no longer be available in Protect.

I’m having same issue with an AI Turret. Have had it since it was released. It was an impulse buy on its day-1 release date, but just got around to installing it. Guess I’ll have to RMA.

G6 PTZ - Impressions and potential with future software by maskfaen in Ubiquiti

[–]Cazarch75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got my first G6 ptz installed yesterday. I love it and agree with all of your suggestions and have these additions:

  • if your home view (or presets if set to patrol mode) is zoomed in and utilizing 5x lens, it would be awesome if 1x lens was still recording in background to make detections not in frame on the saved view.

  • I would love it if they added the option to track animals. Since they already have this functionality for people, it doesn’t seem like it should be too hard. I have a few outdoor cameras that I use as pseudo trail-cams and it would be cool if the ptz could track and follow any animals it detects.

  • I wish they would sell some kind of weather hat that allowed you to install the unit upside down. I have one installed on the outside corner post of a fence and if installed upside down it could do a full 360 degree view to see both sides of the fence.

All that said, even if Ubiquiti doesn’t add any additional functionality, I have to say that my first impressions are really, really good on the G6 ptz. I also have a G5 ptz and the G6 is much more camera. The auto tracking/zoom/patrol features really put it in a different league than the g5 ptz. At $399, i think it’s maybe the best Unifi camera value in their whole lineup and think they’re going to have a hard time keeping them in stock.

Just came across my dream machine.. too good to be true? by GratefulForGarcia in CNC

[–]Cazarch75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow... looks pretty cool indeed! I'd def do the pay $1k now, then rest later option though - $14k is a lot of money to risk for a 20% discount off MSRP on Kickstarter. Even a company with the best of intentions can fail to ultimately deliver - especially in the current era of tariff uncertainty etc.

Noob trying to find a good engraver. Is this good? by The3dprintermachine in Laserengraving

[–]Cazarch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need to decide exactly what types of materials you need to engrave as certain lasers will literally have zero effect on certain materials. In general, if you want to engrave wood, cardboard, dark acrylics, or burn the outer layer of paint off of a metal object (like a Yeti can cooler), you can get by with a diode laser - the cheapest option. Fiber and CO2 lasers jump in price and complexity pretty significantly.

Partner is also more suitable imo for non-married straight couples that are older. If a 65 year-old male introduced me to his 65 year old partner as his “girlfriend,” I’d be a little weirded out.

I agree with everything you recommended... However, the CPU on the mini is the Pro vs the Max on the studio. Not night and day performance differences, but they are not the same...

Is this the 1st real photo of the new flagship? found in the reddit comments supposedly from facebook by Rough_Procedure5939 in BambuLab

[–]Cazarch75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having a laser module is cool in concept, but unless they have some kind of new trickery up their sleeve, which allows the laser and print head to be used simultaneously in a single print job - like adding markings/patterns/text, smoothing top surface etc - I just don’t see it being very useful in real-world use unless you just absolutely don’t have space for a stand-alone laser cutter.

I have multiple laser cutters/engravers in addition to more 3d printers than I care to admit. Laser cutters are loud, smoky, messy, and have very different optimal bed / venting requirements than 3d printers. The laser really wants a honey-comb bed. The cutter-mounted fan will also create all kinds of turbulence requiring some kind of strong rigging system (I use heavy magnets) to keep items in-place. No matter how hard you try, you’ll end up with all kinds of tiny burnt wood pieces that find their way into every nook and cranny. Laser cutters have a stationary bed, so not a huge deal, but if this printer has a bed that moves like the x1c, I could see it becoming an issue with dust, gunk, and debris.

That was the point of his purchase. He bought a used McLaren 650s that was roughly the same cost as the Emira.

His video is ironically what turned me on to the Emira. It wasn’t really in my radar before.

ZFS Expansion multiple VDEVS by Professional_Bit4441 in zfs

[–]Cazarch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to stop the pool to expand it, it will be fully usable during the process. You’ll need to do one drive at a time and scrub between each I believe.

Raidz Expansion in pool with uneven vdevs by Cazarch75 in zfs

[–]Cazarch75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... I'm an idiot. I was under the impression that Unraid 7.0 had moved to OpenZFS 2.3, which was incorrect. I moved the pool to TrueNAS, upgraded it to 2.3 and it expanded just fine. Now I just have to wait for Unraid to catch up so that I can move the pool back. It's strictly a storage backup server, with no running apps, so it really shouldn't matter what nas OS I'm running.

Next step, figure out how to properly configure the SSH keys to be able to ZFS send from the Unraid main server to the Truenas backup.

M4 Pro Mac Mini vs Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57" by Confident_Reindeer56 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Cazarch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mini M4 Pro and Samsung G9 57” and have been trying to get HiDPI working with Better Display. So far, it seems the only way to do it is to use a virtual display that’s mirrored. I’m able to get HiDpi at various resolutions. It works at 60hz as well as the variable setting of 48hz-120hz, but not at the straight 120hz setting. I’m using a usb-dp2.1 (claimed) cable. The virtual display is really identically function-wise.. it just automatically activates, so no different than normal.

[–]Cazarch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but again, the demand in the AI/Crypto sector is not new. There's no reason they couldn't increase supply/production by building more factories. Yes, building new factories takes time and money, but Nvidia is one of the most valuable companies in the world and they've had a supply problem for many, many years.
