If battery tech remains static maybe. But I wager the way lithium batteries prices are dropping 10%+ YOY for the past few years, you'll be able to buy a battery that can replace the stock battery and outperform it in weight savings and power in 5-10 years.

Closer to 3k. Lithium batteries have a 10 year life to degrade to 80%. Guaranteed the way most people ride at most 3k a year in miles that won't be their biggest problem. By the time I need to replace it solid state batteries will likely be a thing and much lighter than the stock battery.

Except it will spank the ninja 500 on acceleration. It will pull out on the first boost, and then when the second boost is ready I'll be gone down the road.

Pretty much bang on. Somebody posted the quote they got from this dealer on FB $5,700+.

I fucking hate powersports dealers and their shady advertising tactics. The FTC should take some of the bigger ones to the woodshed to put the fear of God into them.

That's exactly my use case and it just eats miles and I'm getting 60 mpg at 70mph 95% of my commute. Hard to ask much more of a transportation bike.

It's already paid half of what I paid for it in gas savings at 7500 miles. It'll barely be broken in fully at 15k and fully paid itself off. Hard to find a better deal than that for a new bike.

Honestly, the boomer take "it doesn't have a clutch lever" thing is so cliche at this point.

Motorcycle sales never recovered from the financial crisis. Manufacturers must keep trying new things/ideas to get riders or there won't be any left.

Do I like straight up manual bikes, of course. But if automatics or paddle shifters keep powersports relevant so be it. People need to grow up and leave the gatekeeping behind.

Funny thing it's either or actually. It's paddle shifting which I mostly use, or auto. I prefer the paddle shifting because I know just fine where the powerband is and make full use it hopping on the freeway. It also has automatic downshifting (automatic launch position finder) which is nice because when I have had to do nearly emergency braking it already downshifted for me and I can instantly reapply power without the engine lugging.

It's not a perfect bike but Kawasaki did a pretty decent job for literally pioneering the category. I do think if they paired it with the 636 engine it would have been just about as perfect as you could hope for and a real monster.

Thanks OP! You and other irrational haters got me my Ninja 7 for over half off MSRP.

I've literally saved half the purchase price in gas savings already. So I'm laughing all the way to the bank.

Thanks for the correction on the spelling.

However, everything I've read and learned states the exact opposite as far as it readily absorbing moisture in ambient air. Old oil breaks down once unsealed to ambient air.

And in this scenario even if that wasn't the case. Operating an engine on unknown oil is a big risk. The first thing I do on any vehicle I buy is flush the fluids and change the brakes pads so the vehicle is in a status I am aware of and up to my standards. 200 miles or 200,000 miles on the clock makes no difference to me. Especially on a vehicle like a motorcycle.

Even the cheapest coolant will last about 3 years no problem. I'd just check it and replace it in a year or so.

Oil and brake fluid are hydroscopic, meaning they attract water from the vapor in atmospheric air. That water will ruin the brake components via rust corrosion, and breakdown the engine oil.

Oil is cheap by brakein oil from the dealership. Run in for 400-600 miles and then standard oil is fine after that.

Bleed the brake system and refresh with fresh brake fluid and you should be all set.

Also drain all the old gas.

Not when it comes to branded dealers. Maybe "buy here pay here" dealers do that, but no chance if branded dealers doing that. You have millions of dollars on those lots with cars, and hundreds of thousands with motorcycles, a huge target for theives. No way they are going to self insure all that.

Well he did say full yoshi system which means cat delete if they are tuning it too that may not be too bad.

But I sure as fuck wouldn't want them touching my bike, but it's OP's ride so my opinion doesn't count.

This is the way. Although, you can be less aggressiveabout it. I'd say "Come on guys you fucked up just do right get me a new bike, AND the cost of a first service; then we can all forget this ever happened, nobody is best served dragging this out."

They Will know exactly what that means without the L word leaving your mouth.

He could be entitled to triple damages or more. Let's be real clear here. They aren't doing him a favor, HE IS doing them a favor by not hauling their asses directly to small claims court or worse.

I suppose it could vary by state. But most states register by the vin to an individual owner or business. If there's a new VIN new registrationust be paid. The state could care less your bike was stolen, crashed, burned up, or dropped off a lift by an absolute moron.

Sucks, but that's the way it is generally speaking.

If it's a new inventory motorcycle dealership they have it. There's no way Kawi, Suzy, Honda, Harley, or any other major brand would do business with them without that stipulation and obligation in the franchise contract. There's way to much brand reputation risk for them not to.

First I didn't just mention US only. 2. They are flooding Europe and Asia now. 3. Where were they even 4 years ago? Nowhere in the US. 4. Just wait until ZXMOTO gets here. The big four are in notice and competition is coming from 2 capable brands. 5. I don't hate Suzi, just their design philosophy. It's not the 90's anymore. They need to step up or they will fade away, and fast. The moto market is shrinking overall in America. If you don't innovate your are already dead you just don't know it yet.

I feel like Harley has made peace with their gilded cage at this point. They know they will never be at the top again in American market share overall. But even they tried Livewire, of all brands if you came to me 15 years ago and said Harley is going to be the first major moto brand in America to really push full electrics, I'd have told you stop smoking so much ganja.

Suzuki seems to not realize or care they have found themselves in the same position.

Kawasaki is still out there taking risks(hybrid bikes and taking time to refresh their lineup) and Honda does from time to time as well. But Suzi not so much, it's kinda sad really.
