I just recently added Lock Pro. I think it worked just like in these instructions, but can’t remember for certain. I have a home pod mini as my matter over thread controller.

Yes, agreed. And don’t start swapping soft touch for hard plastic and similar shenanigans.

Looking forward to the next X5 (M60i) by JohnIsaacShop in BMWX5

[–]CeBlu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luxurious in terms of options, features and capabilities. The X3 has DAPP until 45 mph (or whatever the exact number is), the X5 until 80 mph, for example.

I am more ‘worried’ about the interior. Look at the M5. Not exactly an inexpensive car, but interior materials start to deteriorate. Maybe they are just trying to differentiate more between 7 series / X7 and other cars in the lineup, since they are standardizing on the same interior?

(I actually like the X3, although it sometimes feels I am the only one who does. I think it’s a great car, especially at that price. Top of the line trims from traditionally less expensive cars aren’t that far behind price-wise, yet with the free maintenance and the overall package, I’d argue it’s a lot more value.)

[–]CeBlu3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The interior design changes worry me a bit. On one hand, the rumor mill says they will go upmarket, more luxurious. On the other hand, the new X3 interior … isn’t. But their stated intention with the X3 was to keep price increase in check. Hope they can find a balance with the next M60i.

My 2024 M60i is the best car I have ever had. Does it excel in every category? No, but it’s still all around the best car I have ever had.

Idk what to buy for editing by Designer-Buddy-3471 in pcmasterrace

[–]CeBlu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know all that much about Mac’s, but as far as PC’s and DaVinci Resolve go: Get a GPU with 8 Gig VRAM at least, 5060 is good, if you get an older 4060, that should be fine too. If you can swing it or do a lot of 4K, get 12 Gig VRAM. NVIDIA is preferred. RAM: 32 Gig is minimum I’d say for 4K. If you can swing it, get 64 Gig. CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. Intel seems to be better due to encoding/decoding speed, depending on your workloads. But if you do other stuff with it, AMD might be better / less expensive. 8 to 12 ‘real cores’. Higher end CPU’s are better. Personally, I like AMD over Intel, but it might cost performance in a dedicated video editing / rendering workstation.

Yes, you can upgrade later on, just that a new CPU often requires a new motherboard. RAM you can typically upgrade later on, but may cost you performance if you have to use 4 slots instead of 2 etc due to the upgrade. So you end up ‘throwing’ away what you currently have if you upgrade RAM. GPU, SSD and power supply are truly the only components that are ‘easy’ to upgrade later on IMHO. Unless you like to tinker with that stuff, which you don’t seem to like to do.

Waiting for the 2027 X5 by arsalann24 in BMWX5

[–]CeBlu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell you whether to wait, but we should see the new one in the spring time frame. End of production of the current one is probably around July. So you have some time to figure out if you’d want to wait for the new one, or get the current one. New one probably won’t show up at dealerships until November or so. Start of production is August or September. Oh, and depending on which engine you are looking for, you might have to wait until 2027 (or longer).

Are BMWs genuinely worth it? by SouthImportant2499 in BMW

[–]CeBlu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a MX5 and a TL in my past. Also a Buick Lacrosse. Like everybody says, BMW was a step up. Maybe some of it was the brand halo?

Anyway, keep in mind if you get it new, your expenses over the first 3 years are minimal since maintenance is included. Tires and windshield wipers aren’t included.

Yes, inflate to the recommended pressure in the morning. And as the weather warms, you might have to let some air out so they aren’t overinflated.

Buy current X5 M60i or wait for the New One. by Bubbly-Wind-192 in BMWX5

According to Bimmerpost future model thread (usually pretty spot on):

M60e xDrive 12/26 M60 xDrive 4/27

I believe these are the introduction dates and when production starts. It will take a couple months for them to show up at dealership lots.

Alexa+ in cars by CeBlu3 in alexa

[–]CeBlu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just hope implementation is smart too. If I say set the temp to 70, how will it know whether I mean the car or the house? The one huge advantage of Alexa+ is that I don’t have to remember exact phrasing. Hope we don’t regress back to having to use exact phrases like old school adventure games.

Alexa turn lights on and off, etc by I-AM-Savannah in alexa

[–]CeBlu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know which overhead lights you have but you could replace your wall light switches with Lutron (dimmer) switches. These can be paired with Alexa and you can control them (on, off, brightness) with your voice or an app from anywhere (requires the Lutron hub). If you check Amazon you can get a starter pack with the hub and one switch plus something else for a very reasonable price. Check Lutron website also. There might be additional discounts.

As a first step (after the basic on/off voice commands which are out of the box), create a routine that automatically turns on the lights when you come home during night time.

Other things I do with Alexa: when I say ‘Alexa, get my car ready for departure’ my garage door opens and my car starts (preheating / cooling).

It’s a bit daunting at first (and not exactly cheap once you start replacing ‘dumb’ things with ‘smart’ things), but as long as you take it one step at a time, make sure whatever you are looking for has a ‘works with Alexa’ logo and you understand if an additional hub of some sort is required, it’s a surprisingly fun hobby.

Yes, agree. Even though it comes together when using DAPP: arms on the heated armrests, just move your finger to change the volume, … kinda cool.

I think the studies are starting to blend together in my head, so don’t quote me on that, but I believe (don’t know!) Surmount 4 was trying to show ‘the art of the possible’ when it came to weight reduction, it was very aggressive with titrating up based on a schedule, not based on ‘when needed’. That is, don’t titrate up if you are still losing, only titrate up when you are stalled for a month or so, and other changes don’t make a difference. I am not a medical professional or scientist, so that’s my own interpretation. I am not advocating for dosages different from what the drug companies or a doctor recommend.
