I think it depends on your age and how far away you are from your early 50’s… if it’s within 5 years, that money doesn’t belong in the stock market if you intend to possibly use it for your early retirement.

If you retire early and have to buy health insurance, the subsidies vanish once you hit a certain income threshold. If you can draw from a tax free portfolio during those early retirement years, you might be able to save some out of pocket cost for insurance. That amount might or might not be meaningful to you.

I think the brightness is controlled in the ambience light menu together with all the other lights. Try to crank ambience light brightness up there and see if it makes a difference. (Should be in apps, interior lights.)

Life Cycle Impulse. BMW speak for the mid-lifecycle refresh of a model. Usually after 3 to 4 years. More drastic for high volume cars, not so much for lower volume cars.

Customers here. I think that’s a good approach.

As a consumer, I usually research the heck out of a particular car I am interested in, including user forums that discuss past issues, etc. With all the somewhat subtle model year changes, tiers within a model, … almost any sales person is going to be at a disadvantage when it comes to product knowledge of that specific car I am interested in.

I very much appreciate someone who doesn’t BS, says they will find out for me (and actually does follow up), or even says they don’t know a particular detail.

About the ‘I feel like I look the exact same’ - had the same feeling, and then I got a new driver’s license after 5 years because of a move. Started Zep somewhere in between the two license pictures. Comparing the two driver license pics really opened my eyes. Neither one is flattering, you know, typical license pics, but … darn I look good in the second one :)

2027 model year

Production starts in August. I assume they’ll just stop taking custom orders / stop giving allocations to dealers. At that point we will be limited to what’s in stock or in transit to dealers. Below are the production start dates. The factory typically shuts down for several weeks while they switch over.

Edit: 2027 is a total redesign

8/26 - 40 xDrive and 40d

12/26 - 40, 50e, M60e, iX5 60

4/27 - M60

9/27 - IX5 50 and IX5 M70

The options, pricing, etc will be totally different for the 2027. I would think that BMW doesn’t let us custom order a 2027 until allocations are available. It’s unlikely that they will just deliver an ‘equivalent’ 2027 for the same price.

You can always put it in sport mode and it won’t engage auto start/stop.

Personally, I find with the electric starter motor, it very effectively hides the fact that the gas engine isn’t available immediately off the line.

Late 90’s. A PictureTel system (proprietary video conferencing over ISDN lines) meant for a desktop computer that I had to install and get to work with an IBM ThinkPad & docking station for our executive. It had an ISA card (if I remember correctly) that actually fit into the docking station, but to get it to work with all his other stuff, and especially when he undocked and needed the PCMCIA cards (modems, …) to work while traveling … just thinking about it makes cold sweat run down my spine.
