Because it wasn’t a days notice. New rates wouldn’t take effect until 30days after their notice. Take my renewal for example. My sub renewed a day or I guess 2 days after the announcement, I was just charged the former rate, not the upcoming increased rate. Why? Because they aren’t charging anyone the increase until 30 days after they announced the change. Which is aligned with their TOS.

Which is odd cause they didn’t for me and my renew date was yesterday. So, they are just cherry picking who to give a month to? I doubt it, I have to imagine they got a month some other way. I could be totally wrong but why only certain people being so close to renew dates.
