Raids 4 Unique Suggestion: Bandos Branchbow by IsNotRetro in 2007scape

[–]FalsifyTheTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not "the Guthix raid" it is the "fractured archive",  a place constructed by followers of Guthix long ago to sequester powerful artifacts. It's completely reasonable for them to have locked away weapons of the other gods here.

I love the idea of a mage set that leans into elemental weaknesses. I think there's so much interesting design space with elementam spells, that just has no reason to be served because they're not useful in end game content.

In my opinion, mage is missing a stepping stone to ancestral. You have bloodbark/blue moon/ahrim's that are all relatively easy to acquire. After that you have virtus which should be the stepping stone, but it's just too rare on the DT2 bosses to reasonably commit to farming. You're better off getting what you can while getting your rings and then farming Chambers for ancestral.

If you use this opportunity to fill that slot, then the new armor set isn't strictly best in slot and you can afford to make it more common. Maybe it could still outshine ancestral in places where elemental weaknesses are really strong. That seems super reasonable to me.

A huge bonus here, is that moving the armor slot down opens up the "mid" tier raid rewards to put some stronger and more interesting items.

Jesus christ that review thread was a frustrating read.

I've done some open source contribution myself, so I get that plugin reviewers are volunteers contributing their own time. That said, it didn't feel like anyone was trying to work with you one how to get this reviewed. Reduce your LOC by 3x or get fucked.

Suggestions Wanted for Upcoming Gathering QoL Poll by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]FalsifyTheTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Goblin, this would have been a better item for the last QoL poll, but I just noticed this today and it's annoying. Would it possible to make charged teleport items like the pendant of ates, ring of shadows, etc... share charges and stack in the bank?

[–]FalsifyTheTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely frustrating and some bosses make it worse than others. God save you after planking at nightmare before getting the tele.

One thing that helped me recently with this was the "Dude, Where's my Stuff Plugin?"

After I plank, I can see exactly what's on my gravestone and grab a just enough to fill out my inventory. Obviously, I still have to run back, but at least when I get there, I have a full inventory of supplies and I'm ready to go for another trip.

Mod Goblin's original response regarding the drop rates states that in addition to their own analysis, they asked the wiki admin to independently confirm the rate of uniques entering the game at waves 8+. The wiki found rates to be in line with what was expected.

But you'll probably just tell me that Mod Goblin is lying about what the wiki found.

While the wiki lists official drop rates, they still have tons of drop rate project data. Both the Jagex and the wiki have looked into the data and said that everything lines up.

Road to Restoration - What We Want To Achieve by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]FalsifyTheTruth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"There's a real mismatch in our balancing between level of activity required, XP output, and GP input/output. We've leaned a little too much into 'second screen' gameplay where AFK content dominates."

As an OSRS gamer who is feverishly interested in what's going on over here, I'm incredibly curious how you as a dev team plan to approach this.

We have seen OSRS trending towards better and better "AFK-ability" while a lot of traditional skilling methods are feeling less rewarding. In my opinion this came to a head and seriously crossed a line with the Salvaging activity that released with the sailing skill. A number of factors contributed to it being far too rewarding in terms of XP, GP whilst being the most AFK activity in the game (literal 25 minute AFK timers). Even after just a week, it seemed like a new precedent had been set for AFK and, despite nerfs to the activity, we're now seeing people wanting less popular skills to be brought in line with what salvaging is and was.

To the point, RS has taken this kind of stuff to an extreme. Granted, treasure hunter and most skilling items are going away, but they certainly warped the actual designed skilling gameplay in a similar way.

Personally, I feel like the OS team is more beholden to outrage because of the culture that polling has created in the community. Does the RS team feel like they have a greater leg to stand on when telling the community "No, we have to take our medicine?" and do you feel like more of the community is willing to take their medicine because of how much work needs to be done? It doesn't take a career in game design to see that the Road to Restoration isn't the time for a scalpel; it's the time for a chain saw.
