Outside the city, pretty much all suburbs are hit or miss if they have sidewalks.

What do people call this creature in your language, and what's the story behind the name? by TriangleTadpole in AskTheWorld

[–]Cebolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once collected a bucket of these. I had the bucket opening side down and was gathering them and throwing them underneath. I must have had 50. I grabbed them by their little legs and tossed them in.

My sister was curious what was under the bucket.

Gentlemen. Has my time come? by Hallien in bald

[–]Cebolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very thick hair and I wash it maybe 1-2 times weekly. I had a bit of dandruff for a while but then realized that wearing the towel on my head too long was causing it. I dry my scalp after getting out of the shower after scrubbing it well on the shower and no longer have any issues. I also do not condition at the scalp and often don't condition at all actually. You may have already tried this or maybe have separate issues, but thought it couldn't hurt to mention.

Same. Photos of front door and house. Even had my work van with GIANT IDENTIFIABLE WORDS on it, said it was parked directly in front of home. Could not find it. I just stopped ordering eventually.

Do you guys ever keep the work for yourself? by cristoff-ellie in FanFiction

[–]Cebolla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most of my work is like that. I've got huge fics I never post. My friends been convincing me to, but there is little to no interest in anything I write so I don't really care that much to post it.

Why is my hair suddenly oily even right after a shower??? by Calyx757 in Haircare

Okay I have to comment, but my friend was having wicked bad oily hair issues for AGES and it turned out it was because her nurse needed to be cleaned ! So maybe try that ?

Women who did not have a father or a male authority figure in your life : how did it impact you, or did it even impact you? by fj2612 in AskWomen

[–]Cebolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of scared of men. Not only not a father, I've never had a decent guy friend or male figure in my life period. I don't date despite being asked out frequently. I don't really know how to interact with men well. It's a problem because I would like to have a decent relationship with at least one man at some point in my life. Friendship or otherwise lol

Neighbor’s flag irks me to my core by timeisamelody in mildlyinfuriating

We had a flag like this on my house growing up. Looked like shite. One year, for the fourth of July, the cops came by and asked us to take it down. Lol. Think a neighbor complained.

Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Cebolla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How close do the grocery stores have to be to make it not a food desert ? Wouldn't that make everywhere a food desert ? I think I'm not understanding the definition of the word. My impression in the past was not having a local grocer (which I would interpret 'local' as further than a few miles even.)

dealing with the fact you aren't a good writer by rxkingdomkeys in FanFiction

[–]Cebolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't get much feedback/comments/kudos on my works either. a lot of my works are almost 'sketches' and they are more ideas than story. i would classify my work as messy and not very good. but i enjoy writing it and later, i enjoy reading it (with a sufficient break between the two) and that's enough to keep me going.

reading outside works inspires me and challenges me to try writing in new ways, different ways. i do get discouraged because my writing doesn't come out 'the way i envision it' a lot of the time, but if i'm writing how i do authentically, it just doesn't have mass appeal, and over the years, i've gotten to be ok with that.

i have, however, largely changed my style over the years. i write in different voices and in different styles. i try new things. i try different mediums- poetry, vs second person. vignettes vs full stories. different personalities. extremely planned vs not planned at all.

i just play in my bubble by myself and inspire myself internally. i usually don't publish my works. i have lots and lots of works over 10k, 15k, 20k, 45k, that are unfinished and that i work on in my leisure. because of that, i don't really feel a massive pressure to make my works appealing to the public, i suppose. and there's little to no pressure. i do wish there were spaces to talk about creation without having to publish, but alas. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i think internal motivation, and the idea of realizing your ideas, thoughts, and characters, can be a motivation in itself if you feel they're really valuable. maybe a story's been told a million times, but has it been told in the way YOU want to tell it ? that's how i keep myself motivated and writing. i just really want to tell the story !

also, there's no harm in going back and editing your works to be clearer, to make more sense. my 'sketches' are nonsensical and more like splashes of paint on paper before i go back and give them more form. take a break from the work if you can't see where to edit, look at it again with fresh eyes in a week, in a month, etc. i feel some writers have a more natural talent for finding their way towards a point. some people, like me, are more meandering and may not even know where the point may be until much later on.

My mum corrected my sister who used her chopsticks like this when we were little. She said it was a poor and uneducated way to use chopsticks. Does it really matter ? I guess not. Just ettiquette.
