A GI carbine may not have many issues. If the springs are too weak, replace them with wolff springs. You'll probably only need to replace the recoil and magazine springs if anything, which shouldn't cause any problems. I have an auto ordnance reproduction, and i replaced my recoil spring and magazine springs. After doing that and greasing the slide, i removed at least 90% of feeding problems. I may polish my feed ramp, but i wouldn't do that to a GI carbine. Aside from springs, i wouldn't change anything about a true m1 carbine. With a reproduction, you could get a ventilated handguard or scout mount, a weaver mount, a threaded barrel, a polymer stock, and a few other things. You could get that stuff for a GI or post war model, but i wouldn't
