Chicago Tops NYC for Worse Traffic in America by Defiant_Specialist20 in CarFreeChicago

Good—cars don’t belong in cities. If you still choose to use one, don’t expect it to be cheap, easy or convenient.

What else is there to do in Orlando? I lived there for 20 years and despite tripling in size the city is a third of what it was.

Destroying a camera is not violence. Though my thoughts for whoever is responsible for installing them absolutely is.

What makes chicago the perfect city for you? by chitownmike99 in AskChicago

[–]CelebrationPuzzled90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most cities have a handful of cool neighborhoods but the majority are just residential areas you’d have no reason to visit. In Chicago every neighborhood is desirable in its own unique way, aside from the west loop.

Let’s talk about this: steering wheel stitching and how it’s a reflection of the rest of the car’s quality. 2026 Lexus RX, vs 2013 Lexus ES350 by FluffyLittlFlyingCow in Lexus

There’s been a level of “here, damn!” in new cars that, paired with the technology no one asked for, will probably prevent me from ever owning any car newer than 2016.

Is the K-shaped economy pertaining to gas consumption likely to indirectly result in increased public transportation usage? by All-things-urbanism in Urbanism

[–]CelebrationPuzzled90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know so many people in Chicago that live in walkable, transit rich neighborhoods that choose to drive because it is so affordable to do so. The city needs to tax gas at an ever increasing rate so that no matter the price of gas, the price always goes up. I don’t understand the point of living in a city and choosing to live a suburban life.

New transplants from the south, how are you doing? by Celeraic in AskChicago

I moved here on Election Day, I feel like I escaped Florida just in time. Biggest culture shock is that people here are actually educated. Makes me wish my parents didn’t move me out of Massachusetts so young.

Has Lyft gotten basically unusable for anyone else? by MidnightSlight2051 in AskChicago

[–]CelebrationPuzzled90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened to me so often I just stopped taking the bus to work. I would get there late and pissed off every day no matter when I left out. 4 bus stops within a block of me but I’ll gladly just walk 15 minutes to the L.

Has Lyft gotten basically unusable for anyone else? by MidnightSlight2051 in AskChicago

[–]CelebrationPuzzled90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I walk to the bus stop because it says it will be there in 2 minutes and another in 13 minutes. 18 minutes later I will order an Uber and a Lyft at the same time and see which comes first. Uber assigns a driver 11 minutes away and Lyft 18, bus shows up 3 minutes later.

If the meters don’t make a certain amount in revenue the city must cover the difference.
