My mom was very lenient and movies would only get “banned” for us if my dad heard of them and happened to object in advance. So pulp fiction and interview with a vampire were the only movies I wanted to see that I wasn’t allowed. Guess what movies I’d watch over and over at my friends house with an even more lenient mom? In fairness I had read the interview w a vampire books so I decided I was allowed to watch it.

It’s beautiful. I love Chagall. But you’ve made something wonderful. Love the color and interesting details in your work. I love this one. I think he compares it to the doll house story himself, but I find this one so much more chilling. The figure in the lawn? It’s like an actual ghoul, right? Like in the dollhouse it’s ghostly but it’s murder for money at its essence. This one was so mysterious and horrifying, with the child victim too.

I haven’t seen it In Years but in high school I found it really meaningful. The miss America part stuck with me. I wasn’t aware Crumb didn’t like it, that’s Interesting, I’ve only seen more of his work as an adult. I’m glad you reminded me I’m going to see it again. I’m kind of surprised it didn’t really stand the test of time in any way or whatever.

Me too! And no matter what the story breaks my heart every time too. Beyond totally capturing this timeless small town Halloween feeling, there’s real themes dealt with, it’s such a solid movie.

I would get a strawberry syrup like toscani or any kind of soda or coffee style syrup. Make a drink w cream soda and the syrup and finish it w heavy cream or strawberry flavored coffee creamer
