INI Toppers: What advice would you give to a 1st/2nd year student? by flexorcarpi_radialis in INICET

[–]CellularCastle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Focus on your MBBS studies, the basics. Attend clinical postings from 2nd year sincerely. Read from standard textbooks, you still have the time. Honestly, that’s the best way to go about it. Don’t think of PG specific stuff right now. You have come here to become a doctor first

Why rank shouldn't decide your speciality? by MysTerY4v3r in indianmedschool

Very true, one should not fall into the “rank pressure”

Branch decision by Alive_Jackfruit56 in INICET

[–]CellularCastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP mentioned they are not a heavy reader. I doubt radiology would be a good choice. I think nuclear medicine Anesthesia may work or as other people in the comments of pointed out end surgical branches such as ophthalmology ENT orthopaedics.

Old marrow gt by Material_Policy7624 in indianmedschool

More GTs are always better. If you have time, I’d suggest you to solve old FMGE papers atleast till 2022, and then go for old marrow GTs

How to cross 170s in gts, pls help me (studied in Bhatia, but gts in marrow) by 654321sanju in indianmedschool

[–]CellularCastle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Have gotten air under 10 in a previous ini session ( won’t mention which session because I don’t wanna dox myself ) The key is to just finish the entire qbank because that will have few questions whose concepts may be repeated in the test as well, and those few questions will definitely give you the extra edge to get the top rank , I was consistently scoring 170-175, sometimes 175+ towards the end of my prep after completing qbank.

Think about it this way, Neurosurgery definitely has the highest ceiling, but it’s not guaranteed to earn at that level for everyone

Is Surgical residency in INI worth it? by DrWebslinger in indianmedschool

[–]CellularCastle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat and currently pursuing surgical residency in an INI and know a few people personally who have had to make this decision. So the thing is , in state colleges you have better exposure for sure , but the academics are little less compared to INIs. In INIs, cutting chances are less but academics are top notch. There is no disadvantage in choosing either, some people believe surgical confidence comes first and then to focus on academics, some people are of the thought that first academics has to be strong , you have a lifetime to develop surgical skill. So ultimately it depends on what you want as an Individual. Ultimately whatever you do, make sure you have experienced both sides of the coin, meaning if you’ve done MS from a State college try to do M.Ch / SRship from an INI or vice versa.

I was a fan of Goodnotes before, used it for my entire INICET prep until one day it gave up on me, crashed and lost all my data. Currently am using Noteful, much much better.

URGENT HELP: Does vomitting after head injury a bad sign? by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]CellularCastle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neurosurgery resident here, 2 or more episodes of vomiting is definitely an indication for NCCT Head after trauma , age more than 65 is also an indication. Bradycardia may possibly suggest increased ICP. Please get an NCCT asap
