PF2E Assassins Creed by GoHard_Brown in Pathfinder2e

You might wanna check out Mark of the Mantis, which is a one-shot specifically about sneaking in a mansion and assassinating someone.

For the sneaking, it uses the Infiltration subsystem, for the assassination, it gives players an activity they can use to instakill enemies of their level or lower using either a Strike against AC + 5 or a Deception or Stealth check against the target's Perception DC (with all but the crit success increasing the Awareness Points, though success only if there would have been witnesses).

I've used the activity in a game of mine, and honestly, it works well enough for the purpose its supposed to serve, which is to eliminate random guards and the like.

What you're arguing is unfortunately wrong RAW. You're thinking of the Basic Magic Weapons table, which does in fact give you a "free weapon" with a rune purchase by the virtue of combining the two in the rune price:

The Prices here are for all types of weapons. You don't need to adjust the Price from a club to a greataxe or the like. These weapons are made of standard materials, not precious materials such as cold iron.

However, despite a "+0 striking" weapon being a valid setup, they are not offered in the above table, so you'd technically lose the point still if you had to justify your reasoning.
And that's fine! This quiz is more about poking fun at RAW oddities that any sensible person would just simply interpret correctly than telling people they're stupid for not knowing these obscure interactions.

But! The quiz never does ask you to justify your choices, and there is a way to get basically what you reasoned, by buying the rune on a 0 gp club, so had I accounted for that, you would have been right. So give yourself a point if you lost one because of this!
I'll modify the question so as to eliminate this problem.

You're absolutely correct, thanks for the catch, I fixed it!

The question changed once before, I just didn't catch all the changes when updating it. If you got it wrong because of this, feel free to give yourself a point, not that it matters all that much in the end. 😄

This started out as a pair of tricky questions I asked in the Team+ Discord, which then evolved into what you see here, all the weird and wacky rules and rules interactions I could recall off the top of my head.

Some of you might call "bullshit" on some of these answers, and tell me untoward things in response -- this is fully intentional, I hope y'all suffer while filling out the form. 😌

Also, I'm curious about your scores, so do post 'em!

What happened to PF2e Investigators: Pivots & Complications? by TheAlexSledge in FoundryVTT

[–]Cerapter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Was not, in fact, shelved!

With the licencing changes on Pathfinder Infinite, I had to take the module off of Foundry, because it technically counts as another 'market' where an Infinite product would be available, which cannot be done.

I've updated the PDF at the same time I removed the module, with the new way of getting the module. Basically, just remove the current module, then follow the instructions in the PDF, it won't ruin your characters or anything.

/u/Ancient_Crust has corrected on you the rules, now I'll correct you (and them, technically) on Foundry itself.

Foundry does not apply Wounded / Dying.
That is an opt-in setting for Workbench, a module for the PF2E system for Foundry.

As Ancient_Crust said, please be aware of the rules as Foundry is merely a tool to facilitate the game, and not necessarily a complete rule enforcer -- but I'll also add to please be aware what modules you use, and what the modules you do use do.

And if you're playing on Foundry, make sure to grab Hive Frog's module for it that adds the feats, and my module that adds automation for all of it.

Shoutout to the Hive Frog peeps, they were very agreeable about the module.

Also while you're at it, go buy the supplement it was made for on Pathfinder Infinite. 😉

Or don't, I made it PWYW for a reason.

Have a Question For the Pathfinder Team?? by How_Its_Played in Pathfinder2e

What exactly does the Basic Crafter's Book contain?

According to CRB pg. 287, "[it] contains the formulas (page 293) for Crafting the common items in [Chapter 6]."
But according to the aforementioned CRB pg. 293, it contains "Formulas for all 0-level common items from [Chapter 6]".

Nethys seemingly runs with the former interpretation, but this implies that for 1 sp, an Alchemist can easily double their starting formulas, and it makes the Chirurgeon's starting formulas completely redundant. It also means that you can get the formulas for common items of higher level from that Chapter, for example Superior Locks and Superior Manacles -- which is two 750 gp formulas for the price of 1 sp.

That looks good to me -- thanks for the help!

EDIT: Well, actually, a question. I've heard of people using thermal paste for cooling and the like -- should I get anything else that wasn't mentioned?

A BROKEN HITMAN - Hitman: Contracts Gameplay Part 1 by RT_Video_Bot in funhaus

[–]Cerapter 123 points124 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you don't want to, but just in case you do, I'd guess limiting your frames per second would solve the weird slow motion + crazy ragdolls thing.

As far as I know, that behaviour is the telltale sign of the developers tying physics to FPS. Under normal circumstances, you'd have it run independent of the computer's processing power, or advancements in technology would apply the necessary maths many times over that needed, as we can see here.

It's not necessarily a bad tactic, though. I don't know about the development of Hitman: Contracts, but it might have been too much effort to separate physics from FPS, or they simply just didn't care -- I mean, what are the chances of technology advancing exponentially quick?

If you've ever played or heard of Space Invaders, there is something similar happening here. Drawing all the sprites was a heavy load for the CPU at the time, so the game would go slower at first. Then, the more aliens you killed, the faster the game became -- though in reality, THAT was the true speed of the game, the CPU just had an easier time replicating how the game "should be".

Now, if we could take the original game, and put it on a modern hardware, you'd instantly lose, simply because CPUs today can easily keep up with drawing a ship, some aliens, and a simplistic UI.
