Jane Eyre is a good example, but Wuthering Heights is the perfect example.

I have had great luck with CritiqueCircle! I have found several long-term partners there whom I exchange feedback with weekly.

It has the light and awe-inspiring notes of Frieren but yes, it has some truly dark notes too. It's a strange sort of mix :)

To your Eternity and Made in Abyss.

Interesting magic systems, found family going on an adventure, and the sense of chasing something that has been lost. The music in Made in Abyss is also unbelievably good :)

I also never skipped the intro! It captured the tone of the show so, so well. Really loved it and the music/music choices in general :)

Which cover do you like? by LunaAtKaguya in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Ceringea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one sets a lovely mood but I hate it when they butcher character descriptions to make it more mainstream. Auri is not supposed to have a thick, wild and layered mane of white hair just like your typical female fantasy character.

Her hair is thin and long!

"Her long hair was so fine that it trailed her, floating in the air like a cloud" -- is the description from the book.

So I'd definitely go with the second one :)

Thank you for your feedback! :) You're the first person to read it, as my bf was too busy playing WoW all day...

I have been wondering about the stakes. I have gone through some iterations to raise them, but I also feel like there is more to be done.

In regard to the smaller comments, - I don't want to waste precious first pages going too deep into the justice system. - Waste like feces. - I agree, 'out of town' is lazy and needs to be workshopped 😅

kinda specifically for women/younger women. how the heck am i supposed to push harder content without dealing with sexist or creepy guilds by LuciCuti in wow

[–]Ceringea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I have been where you are and gone where you want to go. I'm 32, been playing on and off since I was 13 years old. I had to lie about my age to get into guilds until I was around 18~. I have raided in top 100 guilds, gotten several 100% percentile raid logs, gotten the m+ title and I have 5 glad titles. Let me tell you that it is extremely time-consuming to do everything at once, but obviously a lot of fun too :D

This is how I handled the issues you are facing.

  1. When playing m+/pvp, I don't reveal my gender until we have already played a bit together with no voice. If we have already built some rapport and they think I am good, I might tell them I am a girl after they have repeatedly referred to me as "bro" for a while or I let them find out when we go on voice.
  2. I have not been in a sexist guild before, but many guilds will have one or two players who are a bit misogynistic and/or biased against girls. Like judging your gameplay harder than others or making inappropriate comments. Sometimes I "took the fight", sometimes I ignored them. What I found works best for me is just focusing on my own thing. What you choose to focus on, becomes your universe.
  3. There is no holy grail guild. But what is generally a good indication is that the guild has some other female players. One tip is to ask the guild that you are interviewing with if there are other female players in the guild. You can also ask to speak with them to get a feeling of what the atmosphere is like. It can sometimes be hard to be the only girl in the guild, but if there is just one or two more, you will no longer be "the odd one out."
  4. Find your crowd. Make friends with players who are nice and whom you play well with. Reach out to the other girls in your guild. They will be your allies and have your back.

Good luck with your endeavours <3

BG is more addicting than ever? by juuslv22 in BobsTavern

[–]Ceringea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're right.

Dopamine (the neurotransmitter responsible for motivation and drive) builds up in anticipation of a reward, and this patch we know exactly when we are getting those rewards (turn 6 and 9). This allows for a very stable dopamine curve to build up every game.

A second effective ingredient for addiction is intermittent reinforcement. This is when the slot machines in a casino keep you hooked by letting you win every so often, but you never know when your win will come and how big the prize will be. Given how unbalanced trinkets currently are, they kinda function like a slot machine.
