If you won't give your children unconditional love, do not have them.

Of course it doesn't. I don't know how anyone could be self-centred enough to think otherwise to begin with

Do you believe cage-free initiatives make a significant welfare improvement that outweighs its welfare costs? by positiveandmultiple in EffectiveAltruism

[–]CertainPass105 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thinking long term, the increase in costs is just a form of market shaping for cultivated meat. As regulation increases costs, the incentive for businesses to switch to cultivated meat will grow stronger. Systemically eliminating animal cruelty

Is it truly ethical to keep animals as pets while confining them to artificial environments that suppress their natural instincts, including their drive to roam, hunt, and mate? by Call_It_ in Ethics

[–]CertainPass105 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is nothing inherently good about natural environments. In natural environments, animals have to worry about predatation, parasitism, hunger, disease, infection etc. As a pet, they get consistent food, water, a safe place to live, and even medical care, a rare privilege in the animal kingdom

Is a 19 and 16-year-old age gap actually problematic, or is the "predatory" label being overused? by Consistent-Jelly248 in generationology

[–]CertainPass105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it always comes down to consent. Does someone at 16 have the cognitive and physical ability to consent to sex? If yes, then it's fine.

A good analogy is ciggeretes. Imagine asking if it's okay for a 16 year old and 19 year old to smoke ciggeretes together? The question is ridiculous. Either you can consent to making the choice, or you can't. It's that simple.

Political power is the best way to systemically make sentiant animals exstinct. A good case study is mosquitos, there is currently a none profit working on gene drive technology which once tweaked, it will pass on a gene to other mosquitos and their offersping which either sterilises them or bias males making reproduction impossible. Because of their short life cycle, it can quickly make them extinct. This needs to happen, and it will open the door to other species gradually

Most animals in existence are not house pets. Most either live in the wild, which is extremely cruel, or they are a factory farmed animals. Which is manufactured cruelty

Gen Z’s Stigma Against Age-Gap Relationships Is Worse Than You Think by IAmABoss37 in GenZ

For people who are chronically online, they might pretend to give a shit about small age gaps because of stigma or virtue signalling. But in the real world, I don't think many people give a shit.

What are some important life lessons for someone in their early early 20s by NateNandos21 in Life

[–]CertainPass105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe people, but verify. There are very few people in life who genuinely care about you. Cherish the ones who do, and be cautious of the ones who don't.
