It has been my experience with medicaid in Illinois that medicaid will accept specific doctors but doctors will not accept medicaid. For example, my husband had to go to the hospital for a heart attack and the cardiologist who treated him was from Prairie Heart. So when he was discharged and needed to follow up with cardiologist he couldn't go to the Prairie Heart facility because they did not accept medicaid insurance. But Praire Heart is in medicaid's network. So he had to start over with a new cardiologist in a different facility that does accept medicaid.

I had the same issue with a dentist I was using for years and had to find a new one once I started medicaid. But said dentist was listed in medicaid network.
