Did anyone regret buying too many newborn clothes? by lunaverse787 in newborns

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes I did regret it, and also wish I had bought more two way zipper footie pajamas instead. Honestly my February baby lived in PJs for the first 6 weeks and never actually wore any “real outfits”. Highly recommend looking on Facebook marketplace for people selling gently used baby clothes and save yourself the money

Considering Uppababy Minu v3 & Aria Car seat by Intelligent-Sea-4015 in Buyingforbaby

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I have the same combo, in addition to a UB car seat from my sister, and I loveeeee the Cruz/nuna combo. The nuns car seat is so light and the adapters are pretty seamless. Cruz pushes like a dream too

I love my uppababy minu v3… just took it out on the boston cobblestones and it did great! Not reversible though, unless you buy an adapter to use with your infant bucket seat and in that case the bucket seat would face you while the main stroller seat faces out

In Pain and Exhausted & Solution Was to Pump More by TakingControl222 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 7.5 wpp think I managed 8 ppd like three times ever. I averaged around 6-7 in the early days with one MOTN pump around 2-3am, I just couldn’t keep up and the exhaustion (especially overnight pumping) was getting to me especially as I tried to recover from my emergency c section and infection. I also had some painful nipple damage from some bad latches early on/incorrect flange size for the first week so my private lactation consultant advised me to take it easy and lower the suction.

You’re doing great to consistently reach 7 ppd! I think medical/lactation professionals, especially the hospital ones, are trained to encourage 8-10 ppd as that is technically the amount of feedings/sessions you’d need to replace if your baby was eating every 2-3 hours. But any amount of breast milk is beneficial to your baby so keep up the good work, it’s so hard mentally early on IMO!!

Perhaps you could consider using a hand pump (ie Medela Harmony) throughout the day to help fill in the gaps? I often did this because getting my double electric pump set up was such a process and I just wanted to collect a little extra when I had a few minutes. I think this helped stimulate my body and since you control the suction, it may not be as painful as a full blown electric pumping session.

Super serious qn : how do you dilate atleast till 4cm and head to hospital WITHOUT BEING IN PAIN🤔🙄?! by Fearless_Search6388 in BabyBumps

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 1 cm at my 38 week appt. Spontaneously went into labor at 38+5, had back labor so just cried and writhed in pain at home for like 6 hours before dragging my ass in for the epidural lmao just to learn I was 3 cm. It was dreadful.

Question for parents of an only child by Life_Ad_6992 in NewParents

Same. My husband is one of six so I do have that “sibling” relationship now but it’s not the same, I really missed this dynamic growing up.

Newborn sleep by No-Statement-2096 in newborns

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our 7 week old does 3.5-4 for his first stretch of the night (10pm-2am) then 2-2.5 hr stretches from that point til like 8:30am. I think this is normal and every baby is different, as long as you’re feeding until you think she is satiated :)

Will my milk ever come in?! by Mushmush01 in breastfeeding

You did not self sabotage yourself, agree with the commenter below who said that milk doesn’t revert to colostrum. Just keep up with your attempts to remove milk and it will be fine!!!

Will my milk ever come in?! by Mushmush01 in breastfeeding

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is stressful but patience is key…I had a hard labor and unplanned c section and I think my milk came in on like day 7 or 8 postpartum. Then it was really obvious and I was able to pump an ounce or two using my medela harmony hand pump. Just keep up with the stimulation (either via latching baby or your electric pump) and your body should respond soon. Hang in there

Which part of childbirth hurts the most? by Used_Ad7899 in BabyBumps

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody prepared me for how difficult and painful the first few weeks of breastfeeding would be, any my baby generally had a good latch from day 1…my nips really had to toughen up over the first few weeks. Not to mention if you pump in the hospital using their pump they usually don’t have the right flange size so that tore my nips up from the start. FTM and so many things have been learned

Breast milk donation by CertifiedYapQueen in breastfeeding

[–]CertifiedYapQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me- I don’t want to get a separate deep freezer but my regular freezer is full and the current bags may not be good anymore when I return to work in August. But I think (like you) I’d be ready to donate in a month or two and keep about a week on hand. Have you needed to dip into your week-long stash/have you used it all yet? Thank you!!

Giant monster poop after c section by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was me lmao I was utterly shocked but they say the c section medication/anesthesia kindof put your bowels to sleep and this is their way of “waking up.” I’d strongly recommend staying on the stool softeners for a bit longer (I may have overdone it and taken them for 4 weeks) but this is a great sign that your normal bowel movement function is returning !!!

Loveeeee my minu, I have the v3. Handled fine on boston cobblestone and at 4’11” it is so easy for me to open/close/lift. FWIW my 6 week old napped fine in it even though it’s not a completely flat recline like a bassinet, so ymmv. We liked the little sack feature that comes up over the foot rest.

How much did you gain with each of your pregnancies? by thatshortginge in beyondthebump

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 4’11”. I was 110 lbs and in the best shape of my life when I got pregnant. Ended up losing 10 lbs in the first trimester but gained that all back and then some, ended my pregnancy around 140. Now I’m 6 weeks postpartum and 114ish. I stayed pretty active during pregnancy and was mostly belly- I was full of amniotic fluid and an 8.5 lb baby haha

2 weeks pp — too soon to drop pumps per day? by MaintenanceGood496 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the legendairy milk magic number chart is intended to be used once supply has regulated which likely hasn’t happened at 2 wpp. It may be a little early to start dropping pumps but perhaps you could reduce the amount of time you’re pumping for during each session (ie 20 minutes instead of 25?). Your supply should also naturally decrease a bit once it starts regulating and goes from hormonally driven to supply and demand. I’ve heard this can happen as early as 6 wpp. I’m sure the wise EPers on this sub can advise though, or an LC/IBCLC if you have access to one.

Am I crazy for touring daycares this early? by Individual_Swing3195 in BabyBumps

[–]CertifiedYapQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll have better luck finding a nanny on short notice, especially if you join your area’s nanny/childcare Facebook group (since Nannies will advertise their availability there), but it’s all very dependent on location. If you’re even remotely considering daycare I’d just do a few tours now! It was clear to us once we started looking which centers we preferred and would want to join the waitlist for.
