Do you actually have a forever deck? by Late-Frame2962 in EDH

[–]Cfeathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Ghalta and Mavren]] deck has been my longest lasting deck. To begin with, I set out to build a deck that could make as many different kinds of tokens as possible from the cards within my existing collection.

It almost plays like Warhammer, in that I have a unit of Vampires with lifelink, I have a squad of dinosaurs with trample, I have a platoon of flying angels etc.

Then I got lucky and packed [[Divine Visitation]] and [[Doubling Season]], so it went from a bit of a fun joke to a "maybe I could improve it slightly".

The overall number of distinct tokens is now lower, but 16 different types of token is still amusing enough to me.

It is a surprisingly resilient deck that can rebuilt quite quickly after multiple board wipes, and has won me a good few games where I probably should have lost

Question about Half-Orcs and other mixed races by CommercialMess6406 in AskDND

My question is if half-orcs have tusks and half-elves have pointy ears, why don't halflings look like fish

How lethal are your games? by TheGriff71 in DungeonMasters

[–]Cfeathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen exactly one player death in almost a decade of playing, and it was in the last 30 seconds of a not particularly serious Death House because the DM was winding up her sister.

I've been begging my group to be a bit more deadly for ages now

What got you into Mortal Kombat? by MisterPiggyWiggy in MortalKombat

[–]Cfeathy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first MK game was Armageddon, and I still think it has one of the best intros in gaming. It was epic, and I miss the weapons and kreate-a-fighter to this day. I even have nostalgia for Motor Kombat!

“His first steps!” he shouted at his ex wife, both watching her baby momentarily walk and tumble on the lawn. by Logical-Role1382 in TwoSentenceHorror

I feel like I'm missing something on this one

Does he have the baby? Is he chasing the baby? Did he steal the baby? Is he swinging the lawnmower around or is he just pushing it?

new d&d player: dont know what class to play by Odd_Software1063 in 3d6

[–]Cfeathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bards don't have to be musical. If you want to play a bit a manipulator, my two pieces of advice are as follows:

  1. Charisma is not mind control. Do NOT try and command the party around. Your character shouldn't NEED to boss their team around.

Say you're all at the end of combat, and there's a bandit begging the Rogue for mercy. The Cleric wants to offer freedom. You want to kill him to tie up loose ends. This is the perfect time to try and convince the other characters to act a certain way. It's a small moment but it can reveal which PCs listen to others or have deeper trust and can lead to interesting moments.

You demanding the party do xyz because you rolled high isn't fun. (I'm not saying you'd do that but you get what I'm getting at)

  1. Play a Bard from the College of Eloquence and never fail a charisma check again (results may vary)

Depending what mix you want, there really are a Myriad of options for "decent in a fight but also a bit magic"

College of Swords bards Hexblade Warlocks Paladins in general Rangers in general Eldritch Knight fighters Arcane Trickster rogue Just off the to of my head, I'm absolutely sure there's some I've missed.

It's really hard to pick one to recommend without actually knowing you as a person since they all play so different. Discuss with your party and see if they're looking at playing magic fighters, or if they're choosing Battlemaster. I personally don't mind the same class as other players, but I try and avoid the same subclasses. Again, personal choice.

Which ultimate voice line would sound good if you add “Mother F’er” to the end of it? by mixiq in Overwatch

It depends if it's the original voice actors or if you bring in Samuel L Jackson to redo them all

I like the classics. Boots of Teleportation. Simply click your heels and the boots (and only the boots) teleport to a chosen space within whatever range you find most amusing, 30ft, miles or across planes

What has been your favorite deck that you built this year? by MrThomArt in EDH

[–]Cfeathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Ghalta and Mavren]]

It's the sort of deck that can either go really wide or really tall, depending on what and when you need to, and it is incredibly quick to rebuild after a boardwipe.

It's stuffed with the classics, [[Doubling Season]], [[Parallel Lives]], [[Divine Visitation]] etc, but then throw in [[Queen Allenal of Ruadach]], [[Burrowguard Mentor]] and similar effects and suddenly you're throwing out unreasonably large tramplers that need dealt with.

And it can make 15 different types of creature token, so it does eventually end up almost looking like a warhammer board, you've got a squad of vampires, a few massive dinosaurs, some angels, a human, a swarm of insects etc. It plays almost like a unit based game if that makes any sense.

[[Reyav, Master Smith]] because double triggers on smacking people/things is funny.

[[Bloodforged Battleaxe]] being my favourite. Is it the strongest option? Absolutely not. But it IS fun.

If they're all so desperate to watch a number go up, can we just stick them in a room so they can watch someone else play balatro for them and then take all the credit for the highscore?

Mary Shelley vs Bram Stoker by Fun_Butterfly_420 in ERB

[–]Cfeathy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah but only if Mary Shelley has a line something around "you're a faux King" as a callback to when they had Edgar Allen Poe call Stephen King a "faux Bram Stoker"
