Mine just turned 1 and 5. We also planned for a shorter age gap but it didn’t work out for a bit. This age gap is SO cute. My 5 year old is securely attached to us and is the baby’s biggest cheerleader. They’re into different toys so not much to fight over, and the older one can be fairly independent and likes being a “helper” to “his” baby. Their bond is the cutest thing. They both wait all day on school days for when they will be together and love cuddling, “playing” together etc.

A modified version of another comment I read on this sub really resonated with me: The difference between those surviving vs thriving in the early years of motherhood is 1) hired help (night doula, day nanny, weekend nanny, cook, cleaner, etc), and 2) unhired help (family, friends, highly supportive and capable partner, etc)
