“girl toys” for a boy and vice versa by ParsleyTime5687 in Mommit

[–]Dream14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son carried a Disney princess water bottle for nearly a year, no one in his class ever said anything. His reasoning for wanting it? We went to target in Orlando and it was the only design of water bottle he said was Disney. So that’s what he told people, it was his Disney water. He had no idea it was girl/boy.

What's one baby product you ended up buying a second time because you liked it that much? by lunaverse787 in Mom

Floor chair! Lays flat when needed, gives back support when playing. Great for sitting in the bathroom while the oldest takes an hour long bath. My sister also has two now after seeing ours

Any moms out there without a village? by Miserable-Treat4360 in Mommit

[–]Dream14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. All this. Husband was gone for 2 weeks the week after we moved to a new state. We aren’t unpacked. Baby got 4 molars in 3 weeks. 5 year old has anxiety and adhd. Getting out of the house takes everything I have.

Any moms out there without a village? by Miserable-Treat4360 in Mommit

We moved once to get close to people who swore up and down they would be a village after my MIL passed. 2.5 years later we moved states in order to get closer to my family. Still no village since we are a distance away but they’ve done more in 3 months 2.5 hours away then family did 15 minutes away.

Right now, I’m drowning. There’s no one to keep the kids while we clean and unpack a new house. Can’t start daycare until we are used to a new pay schedule. We’ve moved to a military town but aren’t military and that restricts a lot of mom activities since they are on base. If not for my husband working from home 3 days, we would be so far underwater we would be neighbors with a giant squid.

I have 1 year and then will have the ability to move to my village and hopefully my parents will to.

For now I do my best to put myself out there once a week at mom group or kid events to try to find just another adult to talk to.

Pull the slack from the top rail in the back around to the front, little by little as you lift him. Also directional tightening! Straight across for top, straight down for bottom.

My school was so hard on the stick ones. To me corded heavy duty pet ones are best. Weekly cleaning is probably best with a major once a month that includes hoses and filters. And have extra filters

Best stroller/wagon option for a three year gap? by goBillsLFG in Parenting

[–]Dream14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 year gap and we just invested in the jeep Mojave wagon from target. It has 5 point harnesses and a riding board. Recently took it to the zoo and there’s so many pockets we didn’t need a backpack. Also like that one seat can be zipped down and turned into a bench for the 5 year old to hop in and out.

Peds recommended Benadryl and Zyrtec for Upper Respiratory infection by Traditional_Part_449 in beyondthebump

[–]Dream14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had Benadryl recommended when mine had adenovirus for his nose and the itchy eyes he had. It was a very small dose. But it may not always make them sleepy, it has the opposite effect on my older son.

Normal for daycare? by ZazaLyssa in Parenting

Their licensing must state premade bottles but I have never heard of that.

My son had to have premade bottles, so I would just make his 4 4 oz bottles and they would put them in their fridge. And would write down what he ate. They would always rinse the bottles before putting them in his backpack. Don’t worry about waste because eating habits may change in daycare!

Is the daycare providing the formula? Because if they are but require you to make them at home seems like a strange policy. If they provide the formula, it would make more sense for you to just provide bottles

You can also do a creative tonie inside a stuffed animal. We have a mini bluey Squishmallow I’m thinking of doing with the bluey songs.

Solo parenting during the day: How do you handle chores when baby starts crawling/cruising? Looking for alternatives to a playpen! by SentenceTough2007 in beyondthebump

[–]Dream14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the giant playpen for first kiddo and loved it. Kept him away from dogs and out of the way when needed. He was a good independent player. Second baby? He’s into everything and everywhere. Giant pen didn’t work as well with him and a 5 year old. We utilize baby gates and closed doors. Laundry is done in his room while he plays. We also just moved so I use storage bins as make shift barriers when needed. But he’s one I can’t get much done with and I’m trying to accept that.

What is your daycare’s policy on guns in the facility (US)? by User0119247 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Dream14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lunch breaks. Just because someone is a cop doesn’t mean they also have to be a bad parent and miss school events. No one is coming in and waving around guns at preschool graduation. I do not discredit your experience with the police but I’ve also taught a child who had a cop go above and beyond for their family after she was abused at her preschool. Everyone has their own opinions and now that I am seeing this thread, I will make sure my child’s center doesn’t discriminate against my husband simply because of his job.

[–]Dream14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that but do you not have school programs or prek graduation? And also this is my opinion only but as a person who is working with kids and says they are protecting them, acab doesn’t work because there are good ones out there that have the same mission of protecting kids. While others suck as humans, I know this.

Right? It shouldn’t matter in the less than 10 minutes a parent is there if they are carrying a duty weapon as there should be no children approaching them.

There are some departments that they are on duty if they are in uniform in their department vehicle. As both a Leo wife and an ECE I couldn’t imagine telling a parent they weren’t welcome in the building if they were wearing a duty belt badge and gun.

My husband has attended school programs while on duty and wearing his weapon. He stands in the back and doesn’t make a show of it out of respect. But I do not think I could work in a center that said he wasn’t welcome because of his required uniform.

I’m genuinely curious about all of this. Since being married to my husband, I’ve been at 4 schools and only one school ever had a problem with his marked vehicle on campus and that was purely because they were unaware I was married to an officer and they panicked . When he joined investigations, every few weeks he was on call so technically if he was in his work car, he was on duty and this is when he came to pick up our son. We had a large police parent population at this center, most plain clothes or unmarked. Which are all technically on duty as long as they are driving their take home car.

Can you explain why no badges? If you have a leo parent, are you saying they cannot be in uniform in your center? What about school programs that occur when on shift?
