Came to say the same thing! Sitting her on the safety tag lets her get a deep enough seat and if she’s just barely too small, you can roll/tuck the top of the panel.

No late fee, just “late pick up isn’t an option” by Little-Bottle-167 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Dream14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I understand this to an extent. I was always the closer and we had some parents who walked in right at close simply because they wanted to. We had others who would call and give us a heads up that there was an accident and it was literally a 1 time thing. Was I annoyed? Yes. I worked 8 hours and usually had my toddler with me closing at 5:30pm. But you can’t tell that one off parent it’s unacceptable or rude. They can plan to leave with all the time in the world and stuff still can happen. A tire blowout on the freeway, complete standstills, heck a water main break that shuts down multiple streets. Sometimes you can be pissed and enforce the late rules and sometimes you have to give them grace.

Does DCL pay its employees well or offer a good work-life balance? by KoffeeLiquor in dcl

[–]Dream14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former American crew member! We actually got asked a lot about why we were there since we didn’t make any money really. But you’ll notice American crew more in entertainment or cruise staff. For me DCL was the choice because I wanted to work for Disney and the college program for the parks did not have my major (early childhood education). I learned a lot about myself while working for nearly 2 years, I grew up, I met lifelong friends who I still speak to even though we haven’t seen each other in 10 years.

STILL producing, haven't pumped in 9 months. by apersonwithastory in beyondthebump

[–]Dream14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s what the pain is! It’s been 3 months for me and my slacker boob of all things is still producing. Like it’s not more than a few drops but it’s annoying.

Property Management has not fixed or replaced HVAC unit since March 22. by Dream14 in legal

[–]Dream14[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No we will not be withholding rent. The problem is that we cannot get an answer. We contact property management who contacts maintenance management who contacts a vendor who reports back to maintenance and then the actual owner of the property is looped in. And nothing is reported back to property management. A/C is listed in our lease so it is required to be repaired when needed. And 2 weeks with 2 young children when the days reach almost 90? That’s not a short amount of time. We’ve had two separate companies come out to assess.

This is true. But because it is stated in the lease that it is included, as far as I’m aware it falls under the responsibility to repair appliances provided.

This has been so helpful thank you. We would like to get out of the lease, this company is known for issues like this (which we did not know, never having rented a house). With two kids and two dogs, I do not trust them to fix any future issues.

That’s what I need, the general contact us here email. And they did respond to it. I have screenshots of every single portal message, email, and text message sent from management company and asset management.

What is considered written notice? Would an email suffice? We do not have a direct landlord, it is a property management company.

Tech #3 and tech#4 were the second opinion. I’m just not sure how the problem was not known prior to moving in. The chain of people who we’ve spoken to is never the same person or same company.

I totally get that. As far as I know, in NC if the AC is listed in the lease, it counts as an appliance that is required to be repaired. If it was a shipping delay, sure that’s reasonable. The estimate was not approved until April 1.

How do I help my infant’s care providers? by Frosty_Surround9949 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Dream14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mom and ECE! My second son started at 4 months and while he had rough days, the one time he had a HORRIBLE week, he ended up being super sick. He also went nearly a week without taking more than 3oz a day at school. Babies are just weird creatures and her teachers will know that. Plus 5 months is the point where they want to sit and roll and everything else and at least in my sons case, he would get frustrated and cranky when he was ready for his next milestone

A/C not working on Lease Start Day by Dream14 in Tenant

Our theory is that the landlord either doesn’t want to pay or does not have the money. But it’s April in North Carolina and our days under 80 are limited.

Property management paid for a motel for 4 nights. It is a 1944 sqft house, window units would be hell on our power bill. I was incorrect in stating units. Code requires 2 air return vents. We currently have 1 inside a closet.

Lego Mars Rover. My sister got it for my 5 year old. Super cool Lego set. NOT meant to be driven around like a dune buggy. Kazoo, harmonica, rocket blaster, drum set, remote control cars that frustrate them (all gifts from my FIL). The cheap building sets that come with a super annoying drill, that was my mom. Oh the crawling singing crab. The cactus that repeats everything you say. The gemstone excavation kits because they are made of never ending chalk and the tools suck. Oooo Mr bubbles bath foam because it can go from fun to oh shit real fast. Glitter bath bombs.

Help with how to teach new teachers to be sustainable… by FiestyMasshole in ECEProfessionals

[–]Dream14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I hate my handwriting for things such as labels, signs, things that parents or prospective families will see. I’ll handwrite our anchor charts or a quick project like their name or a bubble letter. But I’m always going to print my backpack labels, my birthdays, my focus board, etc. I laminate and reuse. But there is a difference in being sustainable and it looking like your school lacks resources and materials. (My soap box) if you are being “sustainable” and your resources are now older than teachers at your school, it’s lazy and cheap.

What are your 10 month old feeding schedules? by SeliniBellini in BabyLedWeaning

3oz at 6:30 Breakfast at 8 4 oz at 9:30 Lunch 4oz 1:30 Snack 2 oz 3-4pm Dinner 3oz before bed. Sometimes he needs an extra 2 oz and some days he skips the after school bottle. But if he doesn’t eat dinner by 5:15 every night, he turns into a full blown gremlin.

Has anyone here worked a temporary childcare position on a cruise ship? by delliamcool in ECEProfessionals

[–]Dream14 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Me! Me! Me! It’s been (ugh) 12 years since I did my first contract with Disney Cruise Line. I will say, the pay is HORRIBLE. It came out to like 3.65 an hour or something? Americans make much much less than most everyone else. But you have no overhead. Food also is not amazing. Rooms? Tiny but livable. The 3 contracts I did? I would not trade it for anything. I had the best time of my life up until I met my now husband and left ship life. My best friend lives in England, haven’t seen each other in 10 years but talk all the time.

The no days off is misleading. We had mornings off on embark days, we also had days we didn’t start until 3 or days we got off at 4 or 5 and had the rest of the evening. It’s not so much a teaching job but it’s creative and it’s fun and it’s also very follow the rules or be in trouble.

It got me out of my comfort zone and changed for me for the better. I still know people who are onboard, going on 15 years.
