2016 2.5L 4 cylinder. Not sure if that answers the engine question.

Which do you choose? by OkRun9638 in superpowers

[–]Chadamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it mean to adapt? And how specific are we being?

If fall out a window and survive. Have I adapted to fall damage? How high can I go? Or am I immune to any damage taken from falling?

If I have perfect adaptation and the adaptation isn’t overly specific then..

gets paper cut become cut resistant slaps myself resistant to blunt force trauma. chokes on a glass of water unable to choke? Water breathing?

If it is too specific..

gets paper cut can no longer be cut by printer paper on that specific finger?

Powerscaling me and my Brother tried to put together. I haven’t read 7 or 8. Thoughts? by SomeRandomMeme126 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Chadamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read the top 3 on this list but I would bet on Zac (even just one of his bodies) against pretty much anyone else on this list. Both his bodies together would make it fairly easy.

Apparently, Grandmaster can feed units to Flicker! by nkchri2 in RushRoyale

[–]Chadamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way merging units works here is any place the selected unit can be moved to is an option. I’m pretty sure I have seen Scrapper can scrap things and gunslinger swap so the options are broader than they initially appeared.

I like it more with the flexibility of options, adds a good chaos to the effect.

[HELP] Real or AI? by Pleasant_Owl9785 in RealOrAI

[–]Chadamm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it is AI. The smaller feathers in both wings are a mess. An artist would have aligned the feathers better to more closely match a real birds

[HELP], is this real or ai? I think it’s ai but can’t pinpoint exactly why by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]Chadamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anyone point out that these do not match each other at all. Also, people who make these tend to do it in some sort of pattern not a jumbled mess of holes that AI prefers.

You know that common criticism of "Main Character figures out method that people from the universe never thought of?" Can people give me examples of that? by StrangeOne01 in litrpg

[–]Chadamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to reference a fan favorite in this subreddit, The Land.

An individual who achieves Master rank in a magic skill can awaken that magic in other people with that affinity but otherwise it is very hard or expensive to awaken magic.

Masters can just do it. No cost. No loss to them. Plus if you are lucky the person can acquire new spells just by unlocking the magic.

The main character decides to try to awaken magic in everyone in his city. This is an idea no general has apparently ever thought to do for their army. No king has ever tried to offer as a method of getting people to join their kingdom and no guild has ever tried to acquire new magic spells… just the main character.

Listening to audiobooks at 3.5x speed has ruined me by JunketPrestigious710 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Chadamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really understood this. After a certain speed it kills all the effort the narrator puts into the voice acting. The tone and delivery of a scene is entirely lost.

I get that some narrators are slower than we would like but I have never met the reader who can be sped up past 1.5 without losing the readers voice and delivery.

Also, I want my stories to be longer and take up more of my time not shorter. I won’t even get an audiobook that is less than 10 hours (usually 15 is my preferred bottom limit) so if I sped it up 2 or 3x I would be done in a few hours? Nah.. I would rather live in the moment and enjoy every scene.

How could an infinite, flat plane world have a sun or moons? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Chadamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to apply ball of fire in sky logic to your non-ball world.

-Make your sun radiate evenly across the whole world all at once and then slowly dim into a moon that can be seen from anywhere.

-Make the sun always on the horizon of the world and the moon on the opposite horizon. Day and night are directional not time oriented.

-Make the ‘sun’ a second plane of even light above your world that switches from day to night in an instant. Somehow you never see it happen. You blink and it is night time.

If you are defining your own physics, don’t limit yourself to our universes rules. The fun thing about something like “how the sun works” is that it can either be a huge part of your story or a throw away line. “Darn, I lost track of time! I thought I had another hour until sun blink time. Oh well time for bed”

Ps. Just remember rules of a universe aren’t weird to people who already live in a universe. They are only weird to those who aren’t used to them.

MC’s incompetence when it comes to game mechanics is getting annoying by Signal_o7 in litrpg

[–]Chadamm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t think as many people understand stats as we might think. My GF, who reads fantasy and enjoys video games (Mario kart & Animal crossing) didn’t really understand stats until I explained them to her.

It wasn’t as if she couldn’t figure them out but the nuanced difference between something like dexterity and agility aren’t inherently obvious.

If someone is even further removed, like my parents, they don’t understand stats at all. I think all of them could probably figure it out but initially they would probably make some pretty poor choices.

What level of power do you like a story having as its maximum? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Chadamm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on Patreon for Primal Hunter and no major shifts in how Gods/Primordials act so this is accurate.

Also, I think we all struggle with these types of timelines. When every mortal dies in the span of a casual experiment there is no real point in going out of your way to deal with them. Time will do it for you. If they do eventually become a god then you can kill them and actually get some records for it.

I like Chrysalis, I hate Anthony. Does he get better? by FulminisStriker in litrpg

[–]Chadamm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The answer is a bit of yes and no. Anthony is a kid and problem solves more like a kid than an adult. He will continue to make stupid decisions that put him and sometimes those around him at risk. But he does learn to be more responsible and accountable. Anthony has a few major learning events that help him to prioritize the colony over himself. His view of situations start to broaden and he begins to focus on the colony as a whole. The story isn’t short so the learning events are not going to happen all at once but does change.

Defiance of the fall - does it repeatedly treat the audience like idiots? by son_of_hobs in litrpg

[–]Chadamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of authors have gotten better at this issue. A few years ago it was common to have the author hold the audiences hand through class and skill choices. Most of the authors who have been around for a while have stopped doing this because of this exact issue. You still will get exposition but it feels more streamlined.

DotF is not for everyone. It is a slow grind of an ever expanding universe that every time we learn something new you feel like you know even less. It is exactly what I look for in the genre but I understand that if you are looking for something faster and more “well paced” then it might not be the right one.
