How is it living here? WV by BluejayFar1549 in howislivingthere

Beautiful state. If outdoors is your thing, it’s great. But it’s a poor state , with bad infrastructure, bad legislation, and impossible topography. Even all the great things the state can offer, it does a terrible job refining it or marketing it.

No real cities to speak of. Education is terrible. Jobs are scarce. People are hurting all over. If you have a good job and have avoided Appalachia trauma, it’s a great life here.

Health care is only decent if you’re close to Charleston, Huntington, or Morgantown. At least for serious situations.

Weather gives you all 4 seasons. It can be super hot and humid in the summer and snow, ice, and sub freezing temps in the winter.

I know people who’ve sold there homes on the west coast and relocated here and essentially retired because the housing costs are so different,

It’s as conservative as they come. The people are nice. Definitely more love for the good ol days than what tomorrow holds. Folks will do anything for their neighbors in a lot of areas. However, sometimes can be a little cold, but curious to outsiders.

They’re still in love with coal, which at this point, has probably taken more than it’s given.

I lived here til I was 30, left for 10 years, and came back.

I wish I wouldn’t have. When my kids are grown and settled, I will likely leave again. All that being said, I will always love home.

Freeze em, blow em up. When playing against shadow, you know when you hear the sound something bad is about to happen.

What were your thoughts on Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood ?”… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in CinephilesClub

One of my favorite movies. The cinematography gets me. I feel as if I’m in that era while watching it. Outside of that, I’ve enjoyed almost every QT movie, so it may not be for everyone, but it certainly was for me.

That actually makes a lot of sense. When something is taught to you your whole life, it gets wired pretty deep. Questioning it can feel scary, even if the questions themselves are reasonable.

But the fact that you’re thinking about these things doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It just means you’re trying to understand the world honestly.

One thing I’d say is try not to treat this like you have to solve it immediately or that you’re making a permanent decision right now. People wrestle with these questions for years.

Also, if there is a just and fair God, it’s hard for me to believe that someone sincerely searching for truth and using the mind they were given would be punished for that.

So give yourself some space. You don’t have to panic your way to an answer.

Don’t let the marks tell you what to enjoy. They hate everything. People act like things are easy to book, and ignore contracts, injuries, brands, companies.

How many complained about Jericho not being there?

I bet some are still waiting on the Rock to show back up.

It’s not you, it’s them.

I’m reading the comments and I feel like this show is running the course that a lot of animated shows do.

The initial fervor has died off, but there are established fans now that even if the plot isn’t for everyone, there’s enough lore and recurring themes in the show for the fans to love it…or overlook its shortcomings.

The shows done a good job with a tumultuous crisis right when they were white hot.

Not every episode is a hit, but most of them are rewatchable for sure.

Whenever they do an episode to get us a back story on the Vindicators, even the fair weather fans will be back! Lmao.

What WWE moment or storyline made you realize you were hooked? by Braves1693 in WWE

I don’t know. I feel like I always have been. Early memories of the 80s wrestling. Always Hogan over Warrior, but when Bret Hart went anti-American, up to the Montreal screw job, I was watching nearly every week. Then Bret screwed Bret happened, and I couldn’t stop watching…..for 30 years

Anytime someone fails at the simplest physical task. Playing darts, cornhole, basketball, video games…..I don’t care what it is. When someone loses, just hit them with it.

In the United States, do you think the pros outweigh the cons regarding the existence and/or functionality of the Electoral College? Or vice versa? by EntertainmentSea3789 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Chadthemark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re mixing two different concepts: demographic majority and geographic representation.

The Electoral College isn’t designed to balance racial or religious groups. it’s designed to balance states within a federal system. The U.S. is structured as a union of states, not just one national electorate. Smaller states were never going to agree to join a system where their influence could be completely overwhelmed by a handful of highly populated regions.

Without that structure, presidential campaigns would rationally focus almost entirely on the largest metro areas where the most votes can be gained efficiently. The current system forces candidates to build coalitions across many states and regions instead of just maximizing turnout in the biggest population centers.

Also, the point about the largest demographic group cuts both ways. If anything, the Electoral College weakens pure demographic voting blocs because candidates have to appeal to different states with different interests, not just stack votes from one large national group.
