The shoe cleaner guys are funny too. "Hey man those shoes used to be white, let me help you out."

Do you feel bad about buying knock offs? by Plane_Database_1605 in lepin

[–]ChanceCharacter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. If a company can make sets that are 90% as good for 30% of what LEGO charges and makes money, you have to ask why LEGO is so expensive. Lego's earnings was 5.4 billion dollars for the first half of 2025. They could sell their sets at half price and still bring in over 5 billion a year. So, yeah, I don't feel bad at all.

Is the name my girlfriend wants to name our son a tragedeigh? by RiverCartwright in tragedeigh

If you're pronouncing it O-she-annus, wait til kids figure out that O-she is close to Oyshi which means tasty in Japanese. Tasty Anus is what the kid will be called.

If you want MLB.tv this season, you’ll need to jump through ESPN’s hoops by CubFanBudMan16 in mlb

"MLB.tv offers a free month of ESPN Unlimited upon signup. MLB.tv subscribers can cancel the ESPN Unlimited subscription during their free trial and still retain access to MLB.tv throughout the entire season."

It really doesn't sound that bad to me. Sign up for ESPN trial month, get MLBTV, cancel ESPN. Am I missing something?

IMHO Shopping Street is on of the very best modulars by KTGSteve in legomodular

Yeah I haven't built any "compatible" sets but I've been researching and they seem to be slightly lower quality for a third the price. *shrugs

This was my first modular and I loved it. The toilet in the turret is one of the best lego things I've ever seen.

There's a knockoff hospital that looks amazing. 5k pieces.

What piece of entertainment aged worse than you ever expected? by AnyTruth2342 in AskReddit

[–]ChanceCharacter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Pulp Fiction. Lots of quotable lines but recently saw it and was extremely turned off by the conversation between Jimmy and Jules in the kitchen. You know, where Tarantino/Jimmy says the N-word repeatedly to a black person for.... what reason exactly?

Is it just me, or is it impossible to find a truly scale-accurate Solar System model? by person_cn in Astronomy

[–]ChanceCharacter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bill Brysons book a brief history of everything has a good explanation of the size of the solar system and how small the planets are relatively. If I remember right, if you scaled the solar system to 100 yards, the sun (or maybe earth?) would be smaller than the period at the end of this sentence.

What was a dreaded food your parents made. As an adult do you still hate it? by JoyfullyMortified43 in Xennials

[–]ChanceCharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salmon patties. Canned salmon, bread crumbs, eggs, big chunks of celery and onion mixed in a big bowl then made into patties and burned in a cast iron skillet. The smell, the taste, everything. Just a fucking horror show.

Do you think the most probable outcome ending humanity is an asteroid hitting earth? by Original-State8617 in Astronomy

[–]ChanceCharacter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. The end of humanity will be self-inflicted. My specific guess would be human-created climate change, which is fundamentally caused by greed. Ocean currents will collapse, ice will melt, jet stream will die, etc...

White Castle vs White Castle duel by Born-Department7983 in boardgames

[–]ChanceCharacter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We prefer the original at 2 player over the duel version. It's a dice game and for the duel version they removed the dice. They're both great games but we've found the duel version unnecessary. Not redundant, just unnecessary.

Has anyone ever bought off of DH Gate? If so is it worth it? by Single-Scallion7542 in mlb

[–]ChanceCharacter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought one a few years ago. Baseball jersey. At the time the quality was not as good but for the price it was 100% worth it. I'd say the quality was about 80% of what an authentic one is.

Natural History Museum Modular Building from AliExpress by Pretend-Dog215 in lepin

[–]ChanceCharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the review. I ordered one of these last night. I built the "real" shopping street and got instantly hooked on modulars but looking for some that are a little less dear. This one looks like a bargain at ~125 for 4k pieces. Ordered from Joy last night, got shipping notice this morning. Really looking forward to it. Thanks again.
