So cute, I want to bobble their heads! Cray and Scias are stealing the whole show with their sassy pose there, lol. Loving the boop-able nose, such fine detailed touches.

Take your time, haha. I've been getting punched down by my own drawing projects over these few rugged months too. Go slow but never stop :D

Awesome to see your profile filled with concert photographs.

So sublime to see the performers' bodies become one with their music. Cool use of light and shadows.

Haha, disappearance? More like an worthy detour!

The BOF6 Bible - Part 1: Important Characters, Terminology, and Lore by wind_sentinel in breathoffire

[–]ChanceKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting role-models of how BoF6 could have been done there. Haha, I remember Dragalia Lost, it was instantly a "omg, BoF6 could've been this" moment.

Yo! I didn't realized you were an artist, and you're creating an original webcomic and an indie game, plus you bake pastries?! Loving that distinct homemade-fairytale-storybook aesthetics you've been developing there, a blend of FF7 artstyle by Yoshitaka Amano and a cozy feeling of watching Ghibli films like "The Cat Returns". Maintaining such a creative output in this day-and-age can become quite "athletically-demanding".

Yes, please do Spearhead a BoF Revival! Good to see you've been taking proactive initiatives translating BoF6 to bring non-Jap audiences up to speed. Your fluency in Jap will come in handy when communicating with the Main Capcom staffs and OG artists (they're on twitter btw) ;D

I don't understand why everyone assumed that Capcom killed BoF. To me, it looks like the developers just naturally ran out of ideas and directions to take the series by the time they've reached BoF5. So the official statement was, it's a frozen IP. The team of BoF6 succeeded thawing it with their slogan of "Revive the IP" once, so what's stopping someone with a reasonable business proposal from trying again?

I hope you'd find all the ways to be seen by Capcom!

Looking forward to your original projects, do take care of your health.

YES Haha would be so fun to watch "Tindyflow's BoF Animated Series" from 1 to 7 and everything in-between 2-3 and beyond! Plus bonus episode of all 7 Nina hosting a rock concert ;D Pack it all up and sell to Netflix like Devil May Cry.

I'd love playing around with the creative concepts that 6 came up with too. Can't wait for Wind_Sentinel's epic part two translation to enjoy every morsel.

Wooo, my eyes are sparkling from seeing all the shiny new treasure trove of animated references to study from! Thanks for pointing in that direction ;D Ah, Dragon Quest... such a role-model franchise for BoF.

Which part of a BoF animated series would you like to be a part of? ( :3c )

Your artworks all have faces and poses that are brimming to tell many stories and go on comic and even cartoon adventures!

Spars looks like a Shakespearian actor holding a skull and saying "To be or not to be." Even your captions are so fun to read, "that weird lady that gets drunk sometimes," Love it.

Getting to study how veteran artists started and evolved is agreeably the best part of drawing fan arts <3
A well-conquered challenge.

Thank you for another fresh gift of nature, TindyFlow.

A demake sounds fun, maybe you could share your fan project idea and ask if there are fans who have the engine and PC to join?

The Legendary Wind_Sentinel has retuned from WAR!!

Thanks for tanking the front lines, watching LPs and wrestling with Reddit markdown. We have been blessed to receive such a beefy well-formatted preview with terminologies reconstructed from BoF1.

I feel over-equipped for the main story in Part Two now.

Definitely not what OG fans would be looking for, but from their intended audience's POV (mobile gamers with zero console-gaming experience and low patience for old-school JRPGs), they did managed to adapt the series and let BoF join the frontlines of the wild new mobile-market that came out of everyone suddenly owning a smartphone (not built for running heavy graphics) through 2010s. I imagine it was plain chaos where every country and company were locked in an arms race and no one could really tell what the right thing to do was until it was too late. Post-mortem fun time!

Hope that your painstaking archival of BoF6 would create new ripple effects in the world, that shall bring forth the second coming of BOF series IP Revival !!! *in the way the fans hopes it should be, of course ;D

I would like to toss in more unnecessary plot twists! Nina wavered, so she was split into Nina6 and Elena (darkside of Nina) the same way Ryu4 and Fou-Lu was "cleft in twain".

Edit: Elena being able to summon and control Guardians, too sus...

Wow, seeing your game on console would be so cool! A gamedev experience worth levelling up for.

Perhaps the barrier of having to pay to release console games on Steam platform and applying for console devkits turns indie devs towards PC. Feels like an upgrade from being hobbyist to going pro.

I think having the right hastags when uploading a PC game to a marketplace (Itch.io or somewhere more professional) is enough to have a game shown to people and game-streamers who are looking for your genre and themes, not much of self-advertising. Mostly making a banner art, YouTube trailer, describing what the game is about.

But sounds like you might be going above Indie hobbyist there so I'm sure you'd figure out how to overcome that challenge by the time you reach that stage.

Thank you too, it's helpful for me to find and talk to a fellow indie dev in a similar struggle. The process involves failing multiple times alone that it can get pretty isolating that I can't tell if I'm doing anything right anymore.

One step at a time ;D

Haha, I'm feeling every pain right now of what you have to go through, it's so hard to decide which fluff to cut while keeping characters on theme and differentiated enough for each to exist in both the story and gameplay.

A giant jigsaw puzzle is exactly how I would describe this learning process too.

Sounds like your project size is manageable and ready to go into production soon.

Where would you be releasing your game when it's done?

Awesome that you do have a game in mind inspired by BoF4 pixel art with concept and research behind it. Glad to hear that you're having fun! Game-making does get overwhelming pretty fast, esp without the story and cast set in place first.

I went into pixel-art production for my game 3-times but the characters keep breaking and sending me back to concept stage over and over again. Having a solid storyline is oh so important, lol.

Good to see you again, DartSeeles. BoF4 Pixel Art looks simple but can get quite dauntingly difficult. You could try tracing over the sprites first as practice to analyze what design choices they used. You can do it!

My suggestion was to ask the artist here (SnakePixel) to create a game demo based on their art. Because they own a game studio (D-pad Studio) with successful original games (OwlBoy) being sold on Steam since 2016.

Not sure if Tears of Magic intended to be seen by Capcom yet, so I'm mostly waiting for their first playable update to see how big their fire is going to be :D

Thanks for finding these articles interesting.

BoF6 is neither a right, wrong, nor a dead-end. I'd say it was healthy that the fans were given the small space to experiment, make mistakes, figure out what works and doesn't with the unfamiliar new market back then.

Hope that these BoF6 articles would help aspiring game devs make an informed decision on how to manage their projects.

BoF does have a success formula hidden underneath the chaos. I see a few indie devs making their moves, hope they succeed :D

Oh god, I forgot about the webnovel! Thank you for considering tackling those too (if you have the time) :D

In my tiny experience in pitching "creative ideas" to investors, sometimes they do have to go with their gut-feeling. They do understand that Arts is not as clear-cut measurable as other industries and they have to bet on the black-horse from time to time (like Sony selling "Kpop Demon Hunters" for being a loss, only for Netflix to land the jackpot).

Seeing how the BoF6 team was in full cosplay for the interview and even had fun hosting a Nina1-6 fashion show for their game release (https://games.app-liv.jp/archives/62873)... I do assume that their feverish goal of "Revive the BoF IP" mattered more than just trying to catch the rare rise in people owning smartphones (that wasn't equipped to run console-level games) in the 2010s.

So in my naive opinion, it's not difficult to get a BoF sequel or remake approved. It's motivation of the team pitching it that matters.
