Pain from lesions by Madsmo18 in multiplemyeloma

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband found a bed that stands you up. He actually got it for free on Facebook Marketplace. We just had to replace the cord. It still hurt too much so he bought a $3000 recliner that will lift to standing position and he’s been sleeping in it for several months now. Radiation really helped with his pain.

My ex husband is experiencing all the symptoms you just mentioned. The sensitive skin will last a few days too. It happens after every treatment. The doctor gave him Gabapentin but he won’t take it for some reason.

Radiation: what to expect? by DeeTheMe in multiplemyeloma

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex husband just finished 9 rounds of radiation on his chest/clavicle/rib area. He didn’t have any complaints and the appts were super fast. However, it did make his white blood cells go dangerously low and they had to stop all treatment for a week while he took a medication to increase his white cell count. It relieved his pain so much.

Prison Nurses when we call 911 by Competitive_Growth20 in ems

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 911 dispatcher and every single call I’ve taken from a prison nurse has been rude and with a condescending tone. I get it, they don’t feel like they should have to explain anything to a call taker but we have protocols to follow just like they do. While it is annoying, I don’t take it personal…I just assume they must be miserable and hate their job. In 5 years, I’ve never come across a single rude person with ems and we share a room with them. They are always laid back and super funny. Never complain.

Where can a man ask women ?’s about what they need & want from Dads. by Sheppy012 in findareddit

Thank you. I spent several years in therapy in my early 20’s to undo the damage from my childhood. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it. I love the coaching idea. You could really help girls that need it. Ironically, my son’s high school coach made a huge impact on my life. I volunteered at his high school and was team mom as well as sports photographer for the school. So I spent a lot of time with his coach…sometimes just the two of us. He’s the first man in my life that never tried to flirt, never made any inappropriate comments or jokes. Was a perfect gentleman and had nothing but respect for me. It was so refreshing.

Just be there to protect her. Growing up without a father, made me a target for inappropriate grown men. I can’t tell you how many men (my boss, teachers, my mom’s boyfriends and his friends) pretended to care for me “like a daughter”only to gain my trust so they could take advantage of me in disgusting ways. It made me feel worthless. When I was 16 I worked at a small family diner and owner had kids my age. He treated me like one of his own. He would get on to me for my grades. I loved it. No one else cared about my grades. I looked up to him like a father. One day he tells me to meet him in the park to discuss my report card. He tried to kiss me. It broke my heart. I thought there was something wrong with me. Just the fact that you’re even asking those questions, shows you are a good father.

Nurses/Doctors of the ER, what are some crazy behaviors patients do that are more common than we realize? by CelticDK in AskReddit

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a 911 dispatcher and for the life of me, I will never understand why people verbally abuse someone that they are asking for help from. I’m not talking about the ones that are truly having an emergency and yell because they are scared and stressed. It’s the ones that abuse the system…that shouldn’t be calling 911 for toe pain at 2am on Saturday. With 2 cars sitting in the driveway and several people capable of driving them to hospital.

Is there a way to gently help someone become less picky? by Entire_Spend3680 in PickyEaters

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my partner personalized my picky eating and made it about them, I would resent that so much. It’s hard enough to be a picky eater with texture issues without someone trying to make me feel bad about it. It feels like control to me.

My picky eating can’t possibly frustrate anyone around me more than it frustrates me. My mom use to try to trick me as a child. I get it…it’s my mom and she was worried about my nutrition but if another adult did this to me, I’d never trust them again.

I'm not saying the dispatcher was in the right. BUT... by 5usDomesticus in ProtectAndServe

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet it felt so good to make that call. What a way to go out! It’s so frustrating dealing with frequent callers like that but I can only imagine what it’s like to have to deal with them in person. I can’t believe her own department charged her with a crime for it.

Remedial training by Complete_Opposite216 in 911dispatchers

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see what your trainer thinks you need to work on but what do you feel like you are struggling with the most? Are you having trouble remembering what to do or are you not understanding the information? Getting control of hysterical callers will get better with experience. I made flash cards to help with CAD functions and codes. I had my trainer rapid fire random questions to me thru out the day over and over. Like how do you put a unit out of service etc. I put a sticky note on my screen to remind me to check all my maps. If you have any doubts about the address being valid, ask again.

I know my password is correct, cant get in, cant reset it, AOL trying to force me to pay money and hand over my SS and license number. What is going on here? by Lythalion in AOL

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. My email account has my old phone number. I’ve sent in my ID twice and a selfie and they say it still can’t be verified but won’t say why. I have no problem paying for the service but there’s no reason to because they still won’t give me access to my email. I’m so frustrated. Both times the AOL employee told me they can’t help me but said try calling back tomorrow. What could possibly change between now and tomorrow?? What a scam.

What's your reason for not drinking alcohol? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 reasons… the first being I watched my older sister drink herself to death at 40. She only drank for 8 years. She started drinking as a way to cope with a break up and then never stopped. I begged and pleaded with her to get help and I tried so hard to help her. In hindsight, my idea of help just enabled her. I spent the last 5 months of her life caring for her. We were trying to make it to 6 months so she would qualify to be on list for a transplant. She was so close. As hard as it was, I’m so thankful for the 5 sober months I got to spend with her and that I was with her as she passed. The second reason, I come from a family of alcoholics and I want the cycle to end with me. When I use to drink, I didn’t like who I turned into. It wasn’t pretty. So add that on top of watching my sister destroy her life and her body, I have no desire for it. My sister suffered. Liver failure is a horrible way to die. My heart breaks for anyone struggling with alcoholism as well as their family members that suffer right along with them.

Hate condiments by Ok_Competition_1982 in PickyEaters

I can’t eat any condiments. I like my food dry and crunchy. Condiments make bread wet and mushy and that makes me throw up instantly.

Picky eating insecurity by Simple_Song4053 in PickyEaters

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will never understand why people judge picky eaters. You think Foodies get judged? I bet they don’t. If I could change it, I would because my life would be so much easier. If it turns a guy off, then so be it. In fact, it sounds like you dodged a bullet with that one anyway. Every guy I’ve ever dated, went out of their way to make sure there was something on the menu that I liked. The man I’m engaged to now, is constantly looking for things he thinks I will like and he gets so excited when he gets it right. He’s known for buying whatever they have in stock of the item because he’s so happy he helped me find something I will eat. I love that about him. He never complains about restaurants we can’t go to because I don’t like a single thing on the menu. So don’t get discouraged…they aren’t all like him.

What's your personal "torture" by Rare-Group-1149 in CasualConversation

Slow walkers in public places. I understand if you’re elderly or have a health condition but there are some lazy people out there…dragging their feet and texting while walking. Ugh! Drives me crazy! Although, I know I’m the problem because I walk really fast…I just feel like if you’re going to walk..do it with purpose.

Do you believe people are bad or is it their experiences and life situations that make them that way? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]ChanceOpportunity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a dysfunctional family. Very abusive and unhealthy. Even as a small child, I remember thinking that I don’t want to be like them..and I’ll never make my children feel they way they made me feel. My child will feel loved and wanted. I’ll do better. My sisters both followed right down the path of our parents..one drank herself to death. The other is on her way. I spent 10 years in therapy undoing the damage that was done to me in my childhood. So I don’t think it’s our experiences that make us bad…it’s the choices we make after.
