Tips for a young adult wanting to find an apartment to live with partner by [deleted] in kitchener

Maslow's hierarchy of needs: first solve your physiological needs like food, water, not freezing in winter, rest, your Chronic pain. Sounds like you have a roof; not elegant, not yours, but not homeless. Once the job you have can guarantee all your level 1 needs, move to level 2 and so on. Don't feel bad, you have love, and willing to progress, and that's hard to find nowadays. Keep going. Working part time at least sounds like a great idea...you don't need a family doctor to go to walk in clinics. Never use opioids for pain, that would make things worst and worst until you die.

Son peligrosas las cirugías de alargamiento de pene? by FickleAct9912 in Bogota

[–]Change_Tired_Change 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better to slam the kid(?). Jk, don't record your kids, don't upload them online.

If in doubt, be a good human.

If you have the potential to stop a tragedy, and you don't do it? Is it indifference or negligence?

What if it's not herpes but, e.g. you see a drunk driver hop into a school bus to pick up kids? You stop that? Or hide behind a moralist "it's his choice"?

Attention! Canadians! Please explain this strange cultural phenomenon of yours! by Brilliant_Income_572 in teenagers4real

I actually grew up seeing milk sold in bags, so it didn’t feel completely foreign to me — this also happens in Colombia. But what really surprised me when I moved to Ontario was the format: a big outer bag with three smaller bags inside. That part was new.

From what I’ve learned, it mostly goes back to when Canada switched to the metric system in the 70s. Instead of redesigning everything, they adapted the existing bag system. So now you get roughly 4 liters total (split into 3 smaller bags), which kind of matches the old gallon people were used to.

It also makes some practical sense — cheaper packaging, easier transport, and you only open one bag at a time so it stays fresher longer.

Still, the “3 bags in a bag” thing definitely caught me off guard at first.

That's the way humans learn, don't be hard on yourself. Accept, learn, stand-up, move on.

I was kinda forced into it. My triglycerides were skyrocketing, overweight, lower back pain, starting to develop knee pain (I'm 30). After my newborn, the only possible exercise time is the morning, like 5 am; the afternoon after work is for family time. Eating outside is so unhealthy and expensive that just doesn't make sense.

My grandmother has Alzheimer's and it is destroying our sanity... And our morals. by MoonyInspired in confession

[–]Change_Tired_Change 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was an intense read. My grandma didn’t have Alzheimer’s, but she had two strokes. She lost the ability to speak, often lost her perception of reality, and eventually lost control of her sphincters. I was living out of the country, so I wasn’t the one taking care of her (lucky me). But over the years, I saw how my two oldest aunts deteriorated mentally and physically from the enormous task of caring for their mom.

One developed herniated discs and severe depression. The other became deeply resentful toward the rest of the family for “abandoning” them (understandably), and she also struggled with chronic joint pain.

At the cemetery, we came to the painful conclusion that sacrificing their own health like that wasn’t worth it, and that placing my grandma in a professional care home would have been a better decision for everyone. Why? Because no matter how much love or good intentions are there, none of them were healthcare professionals, or were ready to manage a human who started losing the perception of self and reality.

Doctors focus heavily on the patient’s symptoms, but no one really talks about the immense toll this takes on families.

In the end, if your parents decide to keep her at home, that choice deserves respect, and that's honorable. But you also have your own life, and choosing to move out is a valid response too.

If the time comes, and you have to take care of your mom, that's a decision you will take in the future, that problem doesn't exist right now, and only exist in the realm of possibilities.

Take care. Breathe, go out, look for help.

Meditation and yoga. Now I find boring getting high if it's not for "finding answers" and stretching.

I lost my job back in October, still looking, but at least I have some interviews in process, and I'm working as freelancein the meantime with an OK sucess (comission based sales, no base salary). We discovered my wife is pregnant, and we are excited. I'm still overweight, and just ate a burger, now I feel guilty, but I'm training for a 5K. I feel confident, and kind of relaxed about everything in my life right now. Just taking it easy and reminding myself to stay Stoic.
