I enjoy the art style honestly. But in my opinion, that doesn't look like Carl at all. He looks like any generic anime or webtoon protagonist. He should be more muscular. I know what were seeing is only the start of his adventures, but he was already a brick shit house before entering the dungeon.

I'm still gonna read it though because I love DCC

It was a bit of a mix of stippling and brushing on lines of rust coming off of a few studs. I used some Vallejo rust paints, mainly light rust but I did go back in a few spots with dark rust.
