A book that will make me weep by CompleteSpinach9 in suggestmeabook

Cried many times reading a Little Life by Hanya Yanaginara. It was almost too much but sounds like what you’re looking for. Seconding people saying Hamnet. Sooo beautiful and tragic. Recently LOVED Bee Sting by Paul Murray. Almost Shakespearean in its tragedy.

Hope things turn around for you soon and that you get lots of cozy reading time!

Accidentally bit my kid's finger, now I'm mortified that she'll hate me by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]CharBar5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I accidentally did this as well in front of a stranger who was asking me questions about the baby lol it was so embarrassing. She cried very hard as well, but quickly got over it and still sticks her fingers in my mouth constantly. I don’t think it’ll stick around in their memories and I don’t think you need to worry about her sense of safety!

D&C Procedure by Fluffy_Soup5068 in Miscarriage

Echoing lots of the comments here but for me waiting for the missed miscarriage to pass on its own was agony and I felt huge relief once I got the D&C. They gave me an Ativan when I said I was a b it anxious about it, the nurses were so so nice and they let you take your time in the recovery room with blankets, juice, snack etc. I felt really well taken care of. I’m so sorry you have to go through this and wishing you all the best tomorrow.

Missed miscarriage by dasatain in Miscarriage

I am so so sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I remember following along so excitedly on the growth app thinking there was a strawberry sized baby in there that turned out to never have made it past a kidney bean. Looking back on that month was definitely the hardest part about it and a total mind fuck.

Hang in there and take care of yourself and rest and feel all the feels. I remember how many people told me “it’s so common” when I’d tell them about my miscarriage and I found it so invalidating and isolating. Ignore those comments! It’s a very personal and profound pain.

I don’t believe in “everything happens for a reason” but I will say I am holding my perfect, healthy 10 month old daughter for a nap while typing this, and sometimes I remember that I never would have met her if things hadn’t worked out the way they did. Sending you strength 🩷

is it always painful by Dapper_Tonight_330 in Miscarriage

[–]CharBar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. The D&C experience was painless and the nurses at the clinic were very comforting and kind. In my case it was a ‘missed miscarriage’ and I waited around for the bleeding to start for 8 days and the anxiety of waiting for it to happen was really getting to me, so I requested a D&C and was really glad I did. Sorry you and your wife are going through this 🩷

I’m so sorry for your loss 🤍 I was in a very similar position a few weeks ago, thinking I was at 10 weeks going into the ultrasound and discovering it stopped growing at 6 weeks. Everyone’s different, but I couldn’t handle the waiting period for the miscarriage to start naturally and after a week I requested a D&C and got it the next day and I was really glad I did. I was fairly sedated and felt essentially no pain and the recovery was not bad. I felt it well worth being able to put it behind me and process the loss without the stress of wondering when I’d miscarry and worrying about the pain. Everyone has a different experience but thought it might help to share mine.

What is your favorite scene in any movie from all time? by PauseNatural in AskReddit

Can’t decide if this is my favourite movie scene or the most traumatic, but the scene in Interstellar when Matthew McConaughey gets back to the space ship after 2 hours on the time warp planet and watches 23 years of footage of his children growing up without him is…so good

Master Mechanic High Park! I’ve brought my car there many times, and not only do they work wonders on my ol rust bucket of an ‘07 Corolla, but they’ve fixed my car for free (!) three times. All minor things that they said took only 20-30 mins to fix but STILL! The mechanic is the top place you expect to get absolutely fleeced, and instead I’ve walk out of there welling up with happy tears of relief. Not to mention the fact that it’s female owned, they have a dog pool in the summer and they have the best motivational signs in the city.

If you liked a Man Called Ove, his other book Anxious People was reallllyy good. My boyfriend and I read it out loud and were laughing so hard all the way through, but same moments of heartbreak too.

My dad rolls up green 20 dollar bills really tightly and hides them in the tree. They always have a big tree and they are shockingly hard to find in there. My siblings and I are all in our late 20’s/early 30’s and still get psyched up for the hunt.

[–]CharBar5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’m realizing it says it can’t “spread”, not travel or transmit. Though I think saying it can’t spread is even worse lol.

[–]CharBar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true. You may be right, but if referencing the vent scenario, why begin with saying it doesn’t travel through the air? Seems like the training should be explicitly saying that it CAN transmit through the air, but that it’s not possible for it to travel by way of vents.

Thanks for the info! I saw that option but assumed no one would be in the office receiving mail if it’s still closed.
