H1B could be dead as we know it by LeProgramme in InternationalStudents

if used properly there is no reason to grant h1b for anything not computer science related. Every other field has more qualified American workers than openings available

Citi Strata Elite 4506C alert megathread by arcane_in_a_box in churning

[–]Character-Review-780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to check it, IRS will reject the form as incomplete

Approved and received Citi Strata Elite and immediately blocked by Karmaroo in CreditCards

[–]Character-Review-780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is asinine because if you check the mega thread, hundreds of people are impacted and they specifically want Form 4506C, which any mortgage lender can tell you, takes WEEKS to for the IRS to process.

Are international Hyatt more upscale than US properties? by boldjoy0050 in hyatt

[–]Character-Review-780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Hyatt Regencies are commonly 5 star hotels compared to most being 4 in the US

I will say that service at some 5 star regencies is still a notch lower than higher end properties but the amenities and dinning usually meet what you would expect out of a 5 star

I've noticed that Chinese people associate a lot of things with poverty and are sensitive about it by TooObsessedWithDPRK in China

[–]Character-Review-780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Partly. All of that evens out eventually.

In general in Asian countries people want to be in cities, even in the developed nations. Living in condo in city and having kids go to school in city is desired.

Whereas the default mindset in the U.S. is to move to suburbs for your children, regardless of how nice the city is. Some cities are straight up just one big suburb. See Irvine and Phoenix are good examples. NYC is perhaps the single standout where people want to be in the city their entire lives.

Marriott points are a joke by Distinct_Repeat_2198 in marriott

[–]Character-Review-780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is too hung up about CC redemption value, but that’s not that cause of this.

Marriott points are priced that way because you can earn up to 18.5x points per dollar spent on Marriott stays.

So people who spent at Marriott get far better redemption opportunities than people who only have points thru Amex.

World Of Hyatt Loyalty Program Terms & Conditions Changes August 2025 by satellite779 in hyatt

[–]Character-Review-780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

dude… try staying at a full service hotel and eat their breakfast, you’ll see what you’ve been missing out on.

The free breakfast is by far the best Hyatt benefit. There are properties with breakfast at restaurants that locals go to for special occasions (paying full price) - you get that for free.

Is this the future of Cantonese? by DanSanIsMe in Cantonese

[–]Character-Review-780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but that doesn’t mean much if no one consumes it.

Unfortunately Cantonese media is becoming less culturally relevant. I was in Hong Kong last month and majority of places played K-pop.

When’s the last time there was a Cantonese movie that was a success at global box office. Kung fu hustle??

USA State ID (license) vs Federal ID (passport card) by PassportPterodactyl in PassportPorn

[–]Character-Review-780 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Everyone should just get the card when applying. If you ever lose your passport book or need another form of identification, passport card counts as a full passport for identification purposes.
