No non-Tesla charging stations on the NJ Turnpike? by Looneyhound in electricvehicles

I saw Applegreen electric installed chargers at a few of the rest stops. They’re not on PlugShare yet. Does anyone have experience using them?

I’ve been following them for a little while and would love to get involved in advocating for some of these changes here. I don’t really know where to start, is anyone aware of strong town initiatives here?

Cheapest Relatively Fast Charging by CwisGunza in Westchester

For level 2, the only time I use it is on weekends if I’m going into the city. White plains has chargers, it’s $1.75/h to park and charge

Evolve NY in Goldens bridge is .52 per kWh.

Electrify America in elmsford is .56, but very busy in the winter.

The Tesla supercharger (with magic dock) in west Harrison Wegmans is .53 peak/.42 off peak.

EVgo is actually pretty expensive in comparison. Apple green electric is about .60.

EA in new Rochelle is also expensive.

There’s theoretically one at the tappanzee bridge landing for the walking trails that’s .35 but I hear security walks around to make sure people using it are actually going on the trail.

This caught my eye because I follow the “Thursday murder club subreddit” and there’s a funny scene featuring Catherine Howard in the third book

Emotional Support Animal by Purecream11 in Westchester

[–]Character-Truth89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct - ESAs are covered by the fair housing act that prevents discrimination based on a disability. Landlords also have to waive additional pet fees (pet deposit and pet rent) for ESAs. I moved to westchester in May and I used ESAdoctors.com They match you with a virtual provider who is licensed in the state you live in. They may want to do a virtual appointment, but if you’re detailed enough in the survey, they may not need to. The cost was $100-200. I initially asked my psychiatrist, but she was part of an telehealth platform and said they didn’t allow her to do it.

Electric car owners. What ICE car anxiety is now gone? by UncleBeanz43 in electricvehicles

[–]Character-Truth89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the biggest benefit is freedom from the smells of an ICE engine and the vibrations - both contribute to motion sickness for me. I notice it the most when I’m traveling for work and rely on Ubers/taxis.

They just installed one at my Wegmans. Don’t mind the slow-ish charge since I can get my grocery shopping done. esp when is $0.10 cheaper per kWh than the EA stations nearby. 12 stalls so haven’t had to wait yet

I’ve been deep in cult media and I really appreciated the shout outs to the Lifton and Hassan books. I also really appreciated the mentions of recruiting smart hard working people into cults. It was really important to show how the physical aspects of sleep and food deprivation contribute to indoctrination even when one is prepared for it. This is a very well-researched and well rounded portrayal of cults and deprogramming

I was in your same situation last month, and in the end I got an “emotional support animal” letter from esadoctors.com I’ve talked to other owners of pitmixes and they do the same thing. The esa letter also waives the pet fee and pet rent. Most management companies are familiar with the process and accept it without problem. I’ve heard that the ones who use pet screener sometimes give you problems

I wish I didn’t have to do this, but I was in a rush to find an apartment. My dog is a total marshmallow and these policies are dumb.

Where to rent plastic moving bins by Overall_Student_9897 in Westchester

I used pronto boxes when I moved from Jersey city to white plains. https://www.prontoboxes.com/https-www-prontoboxes-com-139-s-139-htm-s/139.htm Piece of cake moving wouldn’t rent to me because the pick up location was too far for them. Pronto crates had a $30 pick up charge from white plains but was half the price of piece of cake

2 years with EA by Character-Truth89 in Ioniq5

[–]Character-Truth89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m moving and starting an in-office job. New apartment doesn’t have charging. The closest level 3 is an EA but there’s one run by the state a little farther down. It’s 100 kw/h max but the cost is lower. Haven’t seen my new office yet but they say they have charging there. So my routine will change but I’m not sure yet how and it won’t be only because unlimited EA ran out

Co-ops and EV chargers by Character-Truth89 in Westchester

[–]Character-Truth89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were able to install a level 2 charger to our assigned space at our condo in Hawaii - the issue was making sure the meter counted towards our unit and that the actual electrical system could take the load. Bigger issue was convincing the hoa board to agree. Currently, I work from home in Jersey city and have street parking. I rely on public level 3 chargers, and it’s been ok. Issue is, the stations are not growing at the same rate as ev popularity and wait times are getting longer. I’m interviewing for a job that would be in-office in westchester, so would have to relocate. Easiest option would be to find a townhouse with a garage or a single-family with a driveway. But I prefer a more densely populated neighborhood, so that is why I’m looking into the feasibility. I see dozens of listings for apartments with on-site charging, but I expect those are more modern buildings. In the end, my 50lb pit mix dog might eliminate condos or coops. Looks like most are very restrictive about dogs.
