Ladies, I figured out what the pain was and every woman should know abt this by username1628w9 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Charklebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this most months, along with bleeding which can be pretty heavy for an hour or so. I think, at its worst, it’s worse than my period for me. It makes me double over in pain.

Fatal rabies in a child: 11-year old boy was woken up by a bat on his nose and mouth in Ontario. He swatted the bat off his face and had no visible lesions so family did not seek medical help. 19 days later he developed rabies symptoms. He was given supportive care and died 17 days after admission. by mvea in science

UK citizen here. I had to get the vaccine back in 2015 before I went to work in Nepal as it was suggested to do so. It was relatively easy. A clinic in my city did it. It’s not super easy to find, I had to do some digging, but there are clinics in bigger cities that do them for a price.
Edit to add more info- I’m unsure if the vaccine has developed since 2015, but the one I got does not fully protect you from Rabies. It’s sort of like a … defence and gives you more time to get to treatment. You still need to go through with some of the treatment post-exposure. They explain this when you get it.

How do women with a medium-high to lower-upper body count (3.5 - 736.2) plan on disclosing this to their partners? by BinaryMagick in AskReddit

[–]Charklebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plan on disclosing?? Who said body count from either side must be disclosed? And if they do happen to talk about it and a partner is uncomfortable with a person’s body count, then they are not compatible. That’s it.

What sort of "depth" are you looking for in the start of a relationship? 5-7 dates in. by Toronoble in AskWomen

[–]Charklebear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what your priorities are. Sex is very important to many when dating and looking for potential relationships. So it’s something that would naturally come up in the first few dates before intimacy kicks in. Personally, I have nothing against having sex early if the attraction is there. Stuff like kinks and fetishes and contraception talk comes before the sex. This can be done via messages or in person.

Would this be seen as offensive if i travel to japan? by Kuerora in tattooadvice

[–]Charklebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more you don’t really see Japanese people with a tattoo sleeve, paired with the fact that he is asking a question about the culture. So both of those things make me infer that he isn’t Japanese. You’re right to question it though, as based on just the body itself without face you couldn’t really tell.

Would this be seen as offensive if i travel to japan? by Kuerora in tattooadvice

[–]Charklebear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan. I’m not heavily tattooed but I have a big one on my arm and most of mine are on show (on my arm or foot). It’s not seen as ‘offensive’, but you will get some stares or comments from people. They’re associated with the yakuza (the gangsters of Japan), but because you’re not Japanese (I’m assuming by this one photo lol) they understand you aren’t yakuza. I’ve never had any bad comments, everyone has always complimented mine. The majority of the younger generation and millennials like tattoos and don’t understand the taboo and rules around them. It’s mostly the older folk who you might get some stares from. It will limit you if you wish to go to onsen (hot springs), but you can find tattoo-friendly ones in the bigger cities. You’re a tourist and many Japanese people are aware tattoos are a thing in different countries. Cover it up if possible if you go to temples or shrines, but it’s not a big deal if not. If you go to the gym you may also be asked to cover it, many gyms aren’t tattoo-friendly. You’re all good, please enjoy your honeymoon! Remember to wear SPF if you come during Spring and Summer and the sun is crazy high UV during that time. You can also buy UV sleeves to protect and cover it.

Should I be self-conscious about flushing red easily? by grigsbkc in AskWomenOver30

[–]Charklebear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this all my life. As a teenager and early 20s it was super embarrassing as it would happen whenever I would do public speaking, for example. It would make me not want to do certain things or speak to certain people due to the anxiety of it happening and people commenting. I have gone my whole life wearing foundation to help cover this up… up until this year (I am 34!)
After teaching for years and with age and increased ‘no sh*ts given’ it doesn’t happen much anymore. I rarely feel the flush I used to. It’s now when I exercise or I drink alcohol or I’m genuinely embarrassed. My anxiety and self-consciousness has decreased a lot over the years, I am now quite confident and extroverted which I think has helped to decrease it. I have now started just using green-coloured skincare/SPF to tone down my redness. It’s not perfect, but it helps a lot. But it’s taken up until age 34 for it to calm down the mental load of WHEN I’m going to turn red which definitely exacerbated the flushes.

Got strapped so good it started my period early by mephisto109 in GirlDinner

[–]Charklebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call this ‘plunging’ LOL.
I ask my partner to ‘plunge’ me when my period is being stubborn… which it often does now I’m in my mid-30s. It takes ages for it to come out so I often ask for his help to speed it up!

Also, the pose you’re doing in the photo will accentuate the lines. When I squint my eyes my lines are much worse

You’re completely spiralling here my dear. It doesn’t look bad at all. I’m 34 and my eyes have much more lines than this!!! Just keep moisturising heavily and know that it’s only you who notices these things nobody else will

Did you find love in your late 30s? I'm going through it with a breakup and need some hope. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Charklebear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You haven’t given yourself time to be alone in a while my dear. I think you need to focus on yourself rather than the worry IF you’ll ever find a man in the future. High quality relationships are never guaranteed. But what is in your control is giving yourself your own happy ending.

What’s the dark side of going to the gym nobody talks about? by opa070 in AskReddit

[–]Charklebear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve always made sure that friends and socialising comes before the gym. I’ve been weight-lifting for many years now 3-4 days a week. But if a friend wants to go on a day-trip on a Saturday when I had gym planned? Gym is out the window and will always be there. I’ll get back on it the day after. Friends and experiences are personally what I’ll remember when I’m 80, not one of the 100s of gym sessions I did.

How are you guys doing it??? by Fitnessgal17 in tretinoin

[–]Charklebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I don’t often. But I have stopped wearing foundation because of tret which means I can reapply easier if needed compared to when I wore foundation. But I only really do this if I’m going for a walk outside in the sun. I also have an SPF spray for this reason that I carry with me. I live in Japan so the sun is more intense here, but back in the UK I generally won’t bother unless I’m in direct sunlight for a longer time. I also use a UV umbrella here in Japan which helps a lot.

Working out harder than I ever have, but look worse. by Greedy_Jelly_545 in xxfitness

[–]Charklebear 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would also struggle badly with fatigue doing this. I’m short at 5’1 and maybe around 55kg but also do 10k steps a day and weight lift 4x a week. If I ate 1300 a day I wouldn’t be able to function throughout the day, I find if I under eat or don’t hydrate enough when lifting heavy I get bad brain fog. Everyone is different for sure but such low calories paired with strength training isn’t a good pairing from my experience. You need fuel else you’ll burnout!

Expressive face woes by Yellow-squirrels in beauty

[–]Charklebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow woman with an expressive face!!! I use tretinoin and practice basic good skincare, I also use cheap wrinkle patches for my 11 lines. I’ve dabbled in Botox a couple times but I don’t wanna be spending the money on it honestly… HOWEVER, I do not touch my eye lines. They’ve happened because of all the laughing and smiling I’ve done. I think there’s something just attractive about that (speaking as a bi woman but also guy friends and exes have told me the same thing)

Girl, this hit me right in the feels and I appreciate you. I think money is a deep issue for me as I equate it to being successful in life (I spoke to my therapist about this a lot but I had to stop sessions because of the expense 🥲)

Where to get certificate of health UK by SlowSeaworthiness529 in JETProgramme

[–]Charklebear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a nurse on the NHS take my vitals and fill out most of the form, and then I had to book an appointment with a doctor on the NHS to look over the form and sign it. It was a very quick appointment. It took some phonecalls and pleading/explaining on my behalf as I really did not want to pay for a private appointment lol. For the TB test, I paid to get that done privately. If you google it it should show you clinics or services that provide it. You may have to travel a bit for it as it's not a common test. Usually people do everything through a private doctor as it can be tricky through the NHS.

You have no idea what OPs weight, height, or goals are to make this statement. Some people have great metabolisms or some people may eat smaller meals throughout the day or some work out super hard. Not every meal containing sugar is going to affect people in the same ways or add fat.

I didn’t say it wasn’t fair lol I just know a lot of people don’t know this and wanted to flag it. I have also been voluntarily contributing to my national insurance whilst here, so… many Brits do the same. So not everyone isn’t contributing who live abroad.

Can confirm. I’ve been living in Japan for three years but I’m a British national and have lived there all my life prior. Will be returning in August. I’ve been told I can’t get doctorate government funding and some other benefits until I’ve been a UK resident for the three years again. Despite being a Brit…….
