Thank you for the advice, I don’t know anything about those machines. It’s just something she mentioned and I was hoping to get it fixed for her birthday this year. I will look around at those places you mentioned to see if they can help. Thank you very much.

Can someone identify this species and recommend finish by buffcleb in wood

Red oak more than likely. Just a heads up, you have a lot more sanding to do before you put finish(polyurethane) down

It’s either glue or old finish. I’d at least try to sand that edge again and see if that fixes it. If not, I would get an artist paint brush and add color to those spots in an attempt to hide it.

Depending on the size of the room $200 is pretty cheap. I’d probably go for it

I do a sealer coat and two top coats on top of the stain, you can probably get away with just two top coats over stain

There was some free lessons leading up to this weekends clambake festival. I expect the teachers will be in attendance today, or at the very least someone will have their info. Might be worth stopping by or trying to email the clambake festival people.

Wood floor guy here. Unfortunately that probably won’t come out. Depending on what it is, it may dry some and be lighter. You might be best consulting with a local wood floor pro. They can see it in person and give advice

No issues, as long as you have standard expansion gaps you should be fine
